Instant Gratification - Good or Bad?

I have always been a good student when it comes to learning - a new technology, new concepts, new strategies. But I was not good at writing. Now I want to learn and would seek the support of my #linkedinfamily and hence thought of the above words to start with because there is no #instantgratification in this. I learned this from my previous #Boss

Good things in life will have no #InstantGratification and I will explain to you with examples.

Things with an Instant Gratification :

1. Buy an iPhone - Costs you 100k, value will depreciate the very next moment you bought it. But you feel happy because you have instantly got what you have paid for. This is instant gratification or satisfaction of what you have invested in. Isn't it? this is what most of us feel like.

2. Buy a pack of cigarettes - will release your pressure for a while - harmful to your body. Smoking or caffeine releases stress instantly which works for most working professionals but on the other hand, makes you addicted.

3. Buy Liquor (Alcohol) - forgot worries for a while - not effective for the long run. People spend money on buying alcohol which helps you in the situation when you are tired. With time people become addicted to this as well. Things with instant response.

Negativity always attracts more than positivity.

1. #Invest in educating yourself - helpful for the future. Be it professionals training and #certificationcourses. I know that I must complete a good professional content writing course to gain some more experience in good writing. I also know that it is very helpful in the long run and not only for writing articles or posts on LinkedIn. But this will have no instant gratification - I will have to pay 8-10K and again I will get the results after completion of a 2-month program. No real feel of getting something in hand after this investment of 10K; better I will buy scotch and enjoy the weekend.

2. Invest in mutual funds or shares(Subjected to market risk). Can help you in long run.

3. Go to Gym/jogging/#fitnesstraining - will keep you fresh and motivated. effective for body and daily work routine. The same is the case, we know it's good but will get the results after 21 days when we form a routine and then 90 days to make it a habit.

Just given 3 examples each to let you understand that most of the good things in life have no instant gratification and we keep on delaying with our excuses. But, when comes to things with Instant gratification we don't even give a thought and start with immediate effect.

I have counseled and consulted close to 8000 people and more than 95% of them gave importance to things with instant gratification. We should choose our steps wisely before we make a decision because good things in life will turn us towards excuses.

Thank you for your patience if you read ??

Instant gratification in itself can be rather addicting because you are spending your limited income on these junk items which have no value whatsoever and just decreasing you chances to do anything productive or create wealth for yourself.

Nice 3 pointers, rather 6 ?? . Follow the last 3, and the rest is up to you to decide what you want from the first 3. You are the master of your decisions. Choose wisely.

Characteristic of millennials.
