Instagram Unlocked - Neil Patel's Course Insights

I graduated with my MBA recently and I am currently waiting for my Employment Authorization Documentation (EAD) to start working in the US. One of the things that I have learned in life is that learning opportunities are endless. Hence, I decided to make optimum use of my time and started learning again.

I decided to take the online learning route. When it comes to online learning, some of the most popular sites are Coursera, Udemy and Lynda. This time, I decided to try something different. I started learning with the help of Neil Patel’s online training tools. I have studied about Neil Patel during my MBA marketing class, hence I felt it will be an inspiration to learn from him.

Neil Patel is one of the top influencers on the web when it comes to anything related to digital marketing. Forbes recognizes Neil as one of the top 10 marketers. Neil Patel was also recognized by Barack Obama as one of the top 100 entrepreneurs under the age of 30.

The first course that I decided to pursue is Instagram Unlocked. I would like to share some insights from the course.

The Instagram Unlocked course has 6 short videos with real world examples and it covers all the key features of Instagram. The course covers how to build a profile from scratch, the different types of content, how to market content, marketing hacks, and some great tips & tricks. The course also has some content tools, pdfs, hashtag generator and worksheets which are available for free.

Instagram is one of the most popular social media sites. Gone are the days when people thought Instagram is only for connecting with friends & family. Instagram plays a much larger role in promoting businesses and educating consumers about the ongoing trends. An entrepreneur can create a professional account on Instagram and demonstrate her products and services. An estimated 75.3% of US businesses are on Instagram. So, if you’re not already on Instagram, you are missing on huge traffic & great opportunities. I would urge you to create an Instagram profile.

The way people go to Amazon for inspiration, people also come to Instagram to interact with creators and find new products with the help of key influencers in their niche. Businesses spend heavily on influencer marketing. Collaborating with influencers in your niche and going live with them is very helpful in increasing your reach. Micro & Nano influencers play a major role in growing your network.

You can post a total of 30 hashtags with a post and 10 hashtags in the story. It’s important to use hashtags that are relevant to your community.

Instagram is all about having real followers who like your content, engage and are interested in the product/service you offer. Adding a link to your bio is really helpful to drive engagement, loyalties, and sales to your profile.

Carousel images, swipe up, giveaway contest, appropriate call to action, posting images that are personal every once in a while, stories, posting notification incentives, open-ended question, user generated content, humor, behind the scenes, jumping on a trend and leveraging it, DIY videos, etc. are some great tactics to engage consumers through your content.

Consistency is the key for a brand. Also, post content when your audience is most likely to be engaged. One of the key formulae mentioned in the training to achieve results on Instagram is: Feed content + IG Story + Highlights + IG Live + IGTV + DM + Comment Engagement.

Conducting interviews with other people and going live helps in followers’ exchange.
