Instagram & TikTok new features, plus new AI data
Instagram rolls out an option to share posts with ‘Close Friends’ only
This new feature allows users to share content exclusively with a selected group.?
It expands on the existing 'Close Friends' tool for Stories, enabling more private sharing on the platform.
Instagram users have been increasingly sharing content via DMs rather than publically, so this aligns with the current trend towards more private group engagement.
Since businesses also have access to this feature, it could be an opportunity to think creatively about how to use it. You could share behind-the-scenes content with selected fans, product previews, or exclusive offers, for instance.

TikTok to create new social networking features to boost engagement
TikTok has become concerned that users are sharing and engaging with TikTok videos on other platforms.
From a number of new job opportunities posted by the company, we can see that they’re interested in launching a new platform that “enables users to meet and interact with their real-life friends seamlessly on TikTok”.
By creating a platform for more social networking directly in TikTok, the company could retain more user engagement within the app.
This will be especially useful for businesses selling on the platform as its e-commerce aspect continues to expand.
