What are hashtags and why we use them?

Hashtags are a combination of letters, numbers and emoji, preceded by the # symbol.

If we include hashtags in our posts probably we will see higher engagement than we would if we didn’t put any. When we use hashtags, our posts can be seen either from people who is not following us. 

Here are 8 tips about instagram hashtags:

1. Don’t use hashtags which aren’t relevant

Because this will be considered as a spam. People who follow those hashtags will tell to Instagram to ”Don’t follow for this Hashtag”.

Hashtags must be used wisely for growing the account and for creating more engagement.

2. The right amount of hashtags must be used

Recent statistics show that posts with 9 hashtags get more engagement. But this is not a law. The best thing is that hashtags must be relevant to the content. And every content will show you which hashtag to use and how many.  

3. You must use specific or niche hashtags

To use specific hashtags means gain a targeted audience. And having a targeted audience will grow the possibility of quality engagement.

4. Make sure that hashtag have the right meaning

Before using any hashtag check through the hashtag page to be sure that the associated content is appropriate. You don’t want to attach your brand to something completely irrelevant.

5. Save hashtags for easier use

If you use the same hashtags for every post, the right thing to do for saving time is to save them in a note using your Notes App.

But the best thing to do is to not use the same hashtags in every post. You must always remember that every hashtag must fit with the content and should not be too repetitive.

6. Better hiding hashtags

The reader must be focused on the content of your post. So the content must not be too crowded.

There are two ways to hide hashtags:

1. Put them in the comments.

2. Put them on the caption box, separated from the content with a column of dots or bullets.

7. You can add a hashtag to a post you’ve already published

For doing that you can tap the tree dots at the top right corner of your screen and select Edit. In this way you can add a hashtag to the caption.The same way for the hashtags in the comments. You can tap the comment bubble and add a hashtag there.

8. You must experiment with emoji hashtags

You can insert emoji in hashtags. Why?

Because they are eye-catching and can replace entire words. So they will keep hashtags short and can be very attractive.
