Inspiring Youth Mindset Change for Solutions

In this episode, I sat down with my 13-year-old daughter. The overarching message communicated here is that: knowledge & wisdom is not a function of age but rather a personal initiative. A big thank you to Danielle for taking the time to inspire passion in others. This is the currency of now. The fuel that drives action. Some key takeaways that answered some of the many questions asked every day:

a) While not everybody can get a "white-collar job", the common denominator is the need to develop passion.

b) Passion is a function of self-initiative where it starts with asking questions about what interests you. Then seek opportunities to refine & perfect skills in these areas of interest. Then find usefulness in applying these interests with the refined skills.

c) Social media is an information market that is overtaking mainstream media, but - with the good, bad, ugly. Its calls for discipline. Without discipline, it becomes a time-waster. Aim to use it to refine your skills in areas of usefulness. Social media is a market to bring to scale what we do.

d) Opportunities are created/made, not given. Regardless of the part of the world you are in, opportunities exist. Only aim to be useful in delivering solutions that impact many.

e) What we study in school is not an end; how we apply it to deliver usefulness in greater society and the networks gathered along the way is where it matters. And this calls for continuous skills improvement to make what we study continuously relevant to the solutions market.

f) Parenting is a full-time job. Mentorship is a full-time job. Achieving balanced, holistic individuals is the end goal.

g) Complaints & worry are an autopilot mentality. Focus on what you can control for the better. Take a day at a time and do your best. Seize the day. Else, you will be stuck in procrastination, waste opportunities, and have only yourself to blame.

These are tenets we need to usher ourselves into the solutions space.
