In 2006, Brian Acton left his stable, high-paying job at Yahoo after 11 years. Eager to explore new opportunities, he applied for a position at Facebook, one of the fastest-growing tech companies at the time. The result? Rejection.

It was a tough blow, but Acton didn’t give up. Two years later, in 2008, he set his sights on Twitter. Surely, this time would be different. But once again, he was turned down. Another rejection, another disappointment.

Instead of letting these setbacks define him, Acton used them as motivation. Each rejection pushed him closer to a bold new idea—an idea that would eventually revolutionize communication worldwide.


The Birth of WhatsApp: A Vision for Simple Communication

While searching for his next opportunity, Acton reconnected with Jan Koum, a fellow ex-Yahoo colleague.
