?? Inspiring Positive Change in 2024! ???????
Dear LinkedIn Family,
As I approach my 36th birthday next Thursday (but feeling younger ??), I've been contemplating sharing a message aimed at inspiring more people. After careful consideration, I've decided to share this, hoping to encourage greater impact and inspiration among us all.
Most of you know me for my work in (Decarbonisation, Green Fuels, Sustainable Ports, Maritime Operations, Energy Efficiency, Leadership, Collaboration, IMO Engagement, Academia and UKCoS...), a career journey that keeps me deeply immersed in making a meaningful difference. Today, I want to share another facet of my life—one that unfolds voluntarily.
Before that:
?? Exciting News for 2023!
In the spirit of sharing joy, I'm delighted to announce that 2023 brings us the blessing of a lovely little baby. This wonderful addition to our lives has deepened my understanding of the importance of positive impact. It's a reminder that we must leave our world a better place for future generations.
?? Merry Christmas and New Year Wishes! ??
As we approach the festive season and welcome the New Year, I extend warm wishes to you and your loved ones. May this holiday season be filled with joy, laughter, and precious moments. Wishing you a Happy New Year and, if you celebrate, a joyful Christmas season!
?? Highlights of Positive Change: ?
Since childhood, I've been actively involved in charity activities to touch people's lives. It's been an incredible journey, creating positive transformations and fostering community engagement. Here's a glimpse into the rich tapestry of experiences that shaped this remarkable last 2 decades:
Charitable Initiatives: My commitment to philanthropy extends across various realms, encompassing support for educational, health, and environmental charities such as TEMA and the British Heart Foundation. Whether actively engaging in events, participating in walking and teaching initiatives, or contributing through charity work, I dedicate myself to meaningful causes, from blood donation to planting 1000+ trees for sustainability. Engaging in activities like walking and running, I contribute to charitable initiatives. Collaborating with diverse individuals, irrespective of their backgrounds, including students and graduates, has enriched my perspective and fueled personal growth.
Some highlights:
Passion for Positive Change: In the role of Postgraduate Representative and Ambassador at the University of Strathclyde (US), I actively contributed to resolving university-level issues in an inclusive environment. Organizing a substantial group of students, such as aiding in the coordination of the 38th OMAE Conference, underscored my commitment to fostering positive and enduring change.
Volunteer Leadership: Serving as Vice President, Board Member, Co-founder, and Co-chairman at ATAS (Association of Turkish Alumni and Students in Scotland), my journey exemplifies resilience in steering a fledgling graduate charity towards success. This experience has shaped a deep commitment to nurturing supportive communities for students and graduates. We have been striving to "unite to inspire," working together to foster a sense of unity and motivation. EU Commission Project: During a distinctive three-month engagement as part of the European Voluntary Service in Hungary, my horizons expanded significantly. Engaging in full-time voluntary activities, I had the opportunity to collaborate with diverse backgrounds, aiding students across all age groups, from kindergarten to university level. I aimed to impart an understanding of multiculturalism and the diversity s of Europe and the world.
Student Representation: Elected as the faculty representative when I was 20 for over two years at Istanbul University (?ü), serving as the voice for more than 5000 engineering students deepened my connection with the student community and strengthened my commitment to addressing their concerns. I represented 80k+ students at ?stanbul University, tackling issues like library schedules, food access, and equal services for special students. Committed to enhancing the student experience and fostering success.
IAESTE Involvement: Engaged proactively in the establishment of a new branch of the International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE) at ?ü, playing an instrumental role over two years. Contributed significantly to providing opportunities for students, overseeing the exchange of six member students for technical summer internships. Presently, this number has grown to impact hundreds of students.

Initiatives: As an Organizational Team Member for the Toplum G?nüllüleri Vakf? (Community Volunteers Foundation - TOG) and student rep in CYDD for over a year, I played a role in initiating some projects focused on science teaching and a Green Environment at ?ü when I was only 18 years old.
Chairmanship at Brunel University: Valuing all cultures, I took on the role at Brunel in 2013, where 96% of the student body represented diverse global backgrounds. In this position, I managed the Turkish society and actively supported various cultural societies, aiming to transcend borders. My focus was on fostering improved relationships among the approximately 100 members and their friends from all over the world, cultivating a strong network that spanned diverse academic and professional backgrounds. My influence extended to inspiring the next student union representative.
And many more ...
Looking ahead, I tried to continue leveraging my extensive experience to drive impactful volunteer coordination initiatives that contribute to positive societal change.
?In the course of these two impactful decades, my involvement in diverse charitable initiatives, student representation, and leadership roles has not only allowed me to contribute to positive change but has also provided me with the opportunity to connect with people from various beliefs and backgrounds. Some of these individuals have become close friends, and through our shared experiences, I've had the privilege of touching their hearts. This journey has been a testament to the power of collaboration, personal growth, and the profound impact that meaningful engagement can have on building supportive communities and fostering enduring connections.
??As I turn 36 next Thursday, I invite each of you to join me in contributing to positive change. Let's inspire more people for greater impact.
????A Call to Inspire ?
While I've taken steps towards positive change, I recognize there's more to be done. The arrival of our little one ??has reinforced my commitment to inspire more people. Our world needs our collective efforts, acts and every small action contributes to a positive impact. Let's make 2024 a year of meaningful change.
Warm Regards.
