Inspiring the Next Generation of Female Leaders

Catch Them Young Girls with Dr Jorjoh Ndure-Tambedou

On Monday 21st October, a group of young girls from Catch Them Young had the opportunity to visit the InSIST Global office, where they were welcomed by Project Manager Modou Lamin Drammeh. He shared insights about InSIST Global, emphasizing their role as ecosystem builders and the mission of Afrijula, which aims to empower young entrepreneurs.

The girls were eager to learn and asked a lot of questions, demonstrating their curiosity and ambition. They were given a tour of the InSIST Global office space, where one area captured their attention: the crèche. This unique space allows working mothers at InSIST to bring their babies to work, enabling them to balance their professional and family lives. The supportive environment at InSIST reflects a commitment to creating a workplace where women can thrive.

Teneng Jome, the accountant officer, took a moment to speak with the girls about financial operations within the office. Her insights shed light on the importance of financial literacy, particularly for young women who aspire to be leaders in their fields.

The highlight of the visit was a meeting with Dr. Jorjoh Ndure Tambedou, the CEO of InSIST Global. Dr. Tambedou shared her own inspiring journey, encouraging the girls to dream big and pursue their passions. She discussed Afrijula’s focus on supporting Gambian businesses and advocating for financial literacy, especially among young girls and women.

During the session, she highlighted the significance of technology in today’s world, using Jangal—InSIST’s e-learning solution—as an example of how tech can empower learners. The girls were excited during a fun activity where they envisioned their lives five years into the future, sharing their aspirations and dreams.

Dr. Tambedou also provided valuable advice on navigating the internet, discussing both the benefits of the Internet and the importance of online safety. Her words resonated with the girls, reinforcing the idea that they can use technology to achieve their goals.

The visit to InSIST Global was more than just a tour; it was an empowering experience that left the girls feeling inspired and motivated. As they stepped out of the office, they carried with them the belief that they, too, could become leaders and change-makers in their communities. The day served as a reminder that with the right support and resources, the next generation of female leaders is ready to rise.
