An Inspiring journey with transformation and work from home like a Pro!

50 days back when this lockdown is started, my office introduced working from home concept, and believe me this was entirely new for me, I do not know how easily doing everything. But I know something, I must do!

Doing office without office and how-to complete task, how to manage outcomes, and how to coordinate those issues are popping up in my mind. And importantly, how I am going to spend my days at home doing household works and work from home.

Well, let’s start my journey and hope you will like it. 

From 22 March 2020, we had started our home office with a con call with our top management and full team members. It was a bit strange for me to do a meeting on my dining table because the other room light setting is not appropriate for a video call.

My first-day experience:

On the first day of the beginning of the meeting, our top management clearly said to all of us, “you have to be ready like the way you ready for office and try to mentally accept that you are at the office, just in different sets up”. That has made me happy and the reason behind me to the motivation for working from home. 

Do you know about the interesting mindset of the employees or any individual? 

That is a very tricky and difficult question for me for sure. But what is important to me as an employee is that I understand what our top management or reporting boss said, which means you are in line with the scenario, and it will make you more productive. Quite simple is not it. 

Now, what differentiates our top management said, he said nothing much by his word, he made us all understand that don’t stop, find a new opportunity, creates a new window, never stop your brain, thinks it is a normal situation and from now on we have to do our jobs within this condition.

And therefore, I said, it is an inspiring journey, a journey where I can ignite my thoughts. Not only in professional life, but also in personal life. After all work-life balance is also important.

Importantly, another thing is that his statement made me mentally relax and stress-free because I am not idealizing sitting my home and incur the cost of the company. Somehow, I contribute to the business. I am in my home office, with my team, with my boss, this feeling is important to become a stress-free.

Now why I said a successful transformation towards digitization, there must be some reason. Digitization is a very enormous arena. And doing office is a part and another important part is doing business and make money, means making sales. 

Some companies can afford to hold his company employees for month-long ideally and some company is making his employees productive and prepares for the future.

As we all know after this pandemic most of the company will start working with overhead cost, and they are going to reduce the overhead cost mostly in rent, human resources, fixed and variable cost. As a result, some employees will lose their jobs from some companies. 

To general people, it seems inhuman activity, but believes me to sustain and survive, the company has no other alternative ways.

OK, here I said believe me, but do you believe my statement. 

Surprisingly, I do not believe my statement. And the reasons are very simple if the company do the groundwork for business revised the plan, adopt technological advancement, understand the consumer changing mindset and the journey, shift the employee’s mindset towards a can-do attitude, create a new wind of demand and create new sales channels, then there is no need to go with the heartbreaking activity.

But the question is when a company will do this. If any company thinks they will do later then there is an obvious result as I said. But there is such a company who is doing things in not in advance manner, rather I will say promptly. Timely activities, practicing, and doing work accordingly help a company to shift from present to a sustainable company.

We employees feel good and give our best to act with the company objective. 

In a lockdown scenario, my daily engagement with office, give my daily attendance in HR apps, and start working. If there are any meetings scheduled, then attend those. But the question is how can I manage my house then?

It is quite easy. Because I know my office time, I know my meeting schedule and I know what things I need to do with whom. Just segregate these three things and life will become quite easy. 

Now, I feel more productive, and my work-life balance is in preface conditions. 

So, working remotely can be interesting, productive, and satisfying, but also challenging at times I forget my rules. 

Every day is office day, just like another day: 

I know my office holiday and government holiday. And as a regular working day at the office, what I did, or you did? Just like the office, I have opened the laptop meanwhile a cup of hot tea is required; you know I am a tea lover.

I found all inspired, motivated, happy, and productive colleagues around me, giving smiling faces, say hello, and little bit conversation. 

All things set now do my working list for today and what I missed yesterday. Here I missed my physical presence of all colleagues. But wait, more to come.

Everyday Daily Team Meeting:

Every day we have a team meeting to discuss our days and work updates with our head of the department and team members. All the partners’ meetings, departmental work everything is going a bit slowly, then again, our management engaged us to work so, that we would not get bored or any anxiety. And there no chance to miss out on the smiling faces of colleagues.

I know what I need to do and with whom and what:

Well, the meeting is done and now time for own job. Divide the time based on task requirements. Meanwhile, I completed my household matter. As a wife, I have some responsibility for my family as well and here work-life balance is important. My office and I make such sync that this balance remains strong and effective. 

For the First Time Celebrated “Pohela Boishakh” with All Colleagues: 

We celebrated the 1st day of Boishakh “Pohela Boishakh” Bengali new year with all the colleagues in zoom meeting as per our top management wanted to start our Bengali new year in a festival mood. We all be prepared like the way we did for the celebration. Almost 2 hours we had a wonderful time with music and adda.

No, I am not bored at all, there is no chance. So many things are happening around me:

Everyday office job and we all become bored and work home from a home office, it's quite easy to get boredom. Meanwhile, our management arranged for us for online training every week to learn new things. Apart from that, we had participated in a session on “How Western Music Influenced Us”. One of our heads of the department conducted that session and amazingly I got to know music is the best of our daily life”. This kind of frequent session / all-hands meeting creating more connectivity with all the colleagues.

Family Engagement:

In this lockdown time, all our daily routine is almost the same and somehow quite tough to be positive and keeping the same level of motivation in the family members. To keep that balance, one day our top management called another all hands zoom meeting with our family members. All the team members got the to chance to know each other family members which not happened in our regular time.

Each day was a new day for me and a disciplined work lifestyle with the full support from the office can be a strength for fighting against the COVID-19 lockdown situation.

I am grateful to my company and feeling proud to be a member of this family. Keeping all employees safe and sound is the priority and at the same time keep the business running for managing post-pandemic is also important. To make the best agreement between this two-issue, company changing its nature and transforming towards digitization.
