Finally, India won the T20 world cup. India remained unbeaten throughout the tournament. Best part was, final was contested hard, both the teams put everything to win the match. It could have gone anyways and this time it went India’s match. Bad luck to South Africa once again.

As the fever settles down, let us look objectively those turning points in the match.

There were many defining moments of this match, but couple of them stood out and what we can really learn from this game.

Roles and responsibilities of all team members were clear. They knew what was expected out of them. To win the cup, you need to give more than 100%. Everyone puts their heart and body and give more than their best to win such tournaments.

Every team member needs to give his best to make the teams and the organization successful. Their objectives and expectations, their roles and responsibilities need to be clear.

Free hand given by the coach and the management to go out and play the way they believe is the best because ultimately, they have to perform in the ground.

Management and leaders need to give people freedom to work in the way they feel comfortable and at ease.

Coach and the team players need to work together with a consensus. Coach needs to interfere minimum and let the players function in their own way. (This is what Rahul Dravid was doing

Job of a coach and a leader is to support them and not to dictate or suppress their natural way of working. Coach supressing his instincts and working with the wavelength of team members, listening to what they want. Ultimately, it’s the players who are going to perform.

They came multiple times closer to the cup but failed in the finals. This time they really wanted it badly, individually and as a team.

You need to really want the success badly and give your best to win the game. Half hearted attempts will not take you there.
