The Rotary Club of Global Impact hosted a vibrant and meaningful meeting on March 8th, inspiring members to celebrate cultural exchange, deepen their commitments to service, and connect over shared values. This meeting was a remarkable display of Rotary's dedication to creating a better world.

Highlights from the Meeting

Uplifting Traditions & Inspirations

The meeting commenced with a reflection honoring International Women’s Day, highlighting the resilience and achievements of women breaking barriers and building a more inclusive world.

President-elect Istiaque led members in revisiting the Rotary 4-Way Test, which encourages us to uphold truth, fairness, goodwill, and benefits for all in our words and actions. This ethical framework sparked an insightful discussion about how these principles guide Rotary members in their impactful work worldwide.

A Culinary Journey Across Cultures

Member Shanker Damodaran, joined by Mona Damodaran, provided an engaging culinary demonstration, transporting members to India’s vibrant kitchens. Shanker introduced paneer, a versatile Indian cheese, and shared his recipe for a flavorful paneer curry. He explained how paneer pairs splendidly with traditional Indian breads like chapati and parathas, sparking interest and curiosity across the virtual room.

The exchange didn’t stop there. Members shared their stories and culinary inspirations:

• Jean Russo reflected on Wisconsin’s love for cheese curds and introduced Manchego, a lactose-friendly Spanish cheese.
• Marty shared his experiences at Gouda cheese festivals in Holland, adding a global twist to the discussion.
• Food pairings like watermelon with cheese and cucumber added refreshing touches to a flavorful cultural dialogue.

Global Impact and Club Updates

Treasurer's Report: Marty updated the club with key financial details, announcing an account balance of $2,037.19. He also spotlighted three $100 scholarships available to support children’s education and encouraged members to submit applications.

Website Enhancements: New features make paying dues, updating profiles, and joining the club more accessible than ever:

1. Easy Membership Applications – Join our global movement with just a few clicks.
2. Streamlined Payments – Say goodbye to complications and manage payments directly on the site.
3. Sponsor Recognition – Member sponsors are highlighted with personalized logos and links to their businesses, showcased to a global audience.

Recognition and Accomplishments: Rotary's global contributions were celebrated, affirming the club's commitment to creating tangible change:

• 130 Scholarships Awarded Annually – Including fully-funded master’s degrees worth $200,000 each.
• 2.5 Billion Children Immunized Globally, eradicating 99% of polio cases.
• Highest Charity Ratings – 16 consecutive years of transparency with a 4-star rating on Charity Navigator.
