Inspiring the Future Generation at The Mirfield Free Grammar and Mirfield Sixthform College

Our recent collaboration with The Mirfield Free Grammar and Mirfield Sixthform College highlights our commitment to fostering the development of the younger generation.

During this week, Megan Turpin, representing Frank Shaw, conducted mock interviews for Y11, Y12, and Y13 students. These sessions aimed to provide students with their initial exposure to professional interviews, and the outcomes surpassed our expectations. The students demonstrated remarkable capabilities, with many presenting well-prepared CVs and articulating their academic and career goals effectively. Our objective was to enhance their confidence, preparing them for their upcoming real-world interviews.

In line with our dedication to educational engagement, we actively took part in the school's careers fair with the objective of inspiring and guiding prospective Architects and Designers along diverse educational pathways. Additionally, we provided insights into potential job roles, aiming to inform and educate students about various career opportunities within our industry.

Megan has been actively involved in sessions with Y12 & Y13 design students, sharing insights into her personal architectural journey and highlighting educational routes available such as university and apprenticeship options. These sessions offered guidance on portfolio development and project work. Megan looks forward to maintaining these sessions with the Design Department.

Our work experience initiative welcomed Oliver Newson from Mirfield Free Grammar, who exceeded our expectations with his exceptional analysis skills, drawing proficiency, and eagerness to learn. Looking ahead, we are enthusiastic about hosting three aspiring architects from Mirfield Free Grammar this year, with hopes for additional opportunities in the future at Frank Shaw Associates.
