"An Inspired View on Black History "

When I think of Black History, I think of struggle, sacrifice, strength and a spirit of unheralded excellence throughout history. There are so many to thank for laying the foundation of who and what we are today as African American people. John B. Russwurm, who published the the first African American newspaper called The Freedom Journal in 1827, "The Memphis to Jackson" march that gave birth to the phrase "Black Power", The magazine's of "Today's Black Woman" Essence.

We endure the challenges of life and excellence continues throughout this journey. Dr. Susan McKinney who was first black woman to be a certified doctor, Macon B. Allan who was the first African American Lawyer to be admitted to the bar and Carter G. Woodson who started the first black history week. Now the list goes on and on about the unprecedented accomplishments of such a beautiful and battle-tested culture, so now let's take a closer look at Black history through the Power Alphabet of Inspiration.

The B in Black History stands for blood, brilliance, boldness and bravery. The L stands for long-suffering, love, loyalty and a longing to keep learning. The A stands for displaying a God spirited attitude towards those who wronged us. The C stands for courage, confidence and commitment to be who we are called to be, in spite of the challenges of life. The K stands for always showing kindness to our fellow man, women and child. Now as we continue our journey we have to be inspired by our history.

The H in Black History stands for the powerful historical accomplishment of our ancestors, who did it with grace and humility. The I stands for intelligence, integrity and inspired living in the good times and bad times. The S stands for sacrifice, salvation and embracing the Holy Spirit through song, praise and the guidance of his word. The T stands for toughness, togetherness and being thank ful for each and every breadth we take, in our daily lives. The O stands for dealing with obstacles with an open-mind and hope for the future. The R stands for righteousness.. to simply do the right thing and treat people like you want to be treated. The Y stands for You because what you do each moment impacts your family, your community and yes your legacy.

As we take this inspired look at Black History let's remember Black History is more than a color or month where we are recognized.
