The Inspired One

The Inspired One

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader."

Welcome to another edition of The Leadershifts Chronicle, a newsletter where I share ideas and resources for leaders who build better businesses and explore new ways of running an organisation.

The first quarter of 2024 is almost over. This is an opportunity to look back on the previous three months, celebrate the progress, and reflect on my goals for 2024. What do I want to achieve in the coming months? What do I need to let go to turn my dreams into reality? What are the next steps?

There are lots of things to think about over the Easter Weekend.

Welcome to this week's Leadershifts Chronicle...

Enjoy...

Things to Explore

?? Discover 100 Reasons to love the future carefully curated by futurists, experts, business leaders, scientists, writers, artists, NGOs and corporate organisations. Published by 安盛 , Olivier Desbiey and team.

" Trust in the power of collective foresight " Daria (Dasha) Krivonos ( CEO Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies )

?? Leadership, for me, is about supporting your employees with their personal development. Teja Breznik wrote an inspiring article on the impact of neglecting personal growth on business results.

?? Mattijs van Rijswijck introduced me to the Leadership Circle Profile (LCP), an advanced 360-degree feedback tool designed to give leaders deep insight into their behavioural patterns, leadership styles and the underlying assumptions that drive their behaviour. This tool integrates leadership competencies into two primary areas: Creative Competencies, which contribute to effectiveness, and Reactive Tendencies, which represent potential limitations. In his work as a guide for leaders, the LCP provides not only a mirror but also a roadmap for development. It encourages leaders to look beyond traditional views of authority and focus on cultivating a leadership approach that promotes empowerment, collaboration and lasting change.

Things to read

Corporate Rebels - Make work more fun

8 radical lessons from 150 of the world's most inspiring companies.

This?book, by Pim de Morree and Joost Minnaar explores the stories and strategies of companies that have successfully implemented highly progressive and employee-centred approaches to work.

It's one of my go-to books for inspiration for the business design or organisational design projects I'm facilitating.

Things to watch

The Imposter Syndrome... my well-known pervasive self-doubt and fear of being exposed as a fraud. Chris Do , one of the most inspiring people on building and running a business delves into the heart of Imposter Syndrome, showcasing how even acclaimed actress Meryl Streep struggles with these feelings. Chris offers practical advice for overcoming these insecurities by embracing a learner's mindset, focusing on growth, and employing non-violent communication to evaluate one's work without self-judgment objectively.

If people can overcome imposter syndrome, the world would be much better as people hold back and try to compensate for their imposter syndrome and not unleash their true potential.

So that's it for this week. Like always, feedback is very welcome and appreciated. It helps me grow on my path to becoming a better leader.

Have a great weekend and till next week...

Wouter
