How will you measure your life, by Clayton Christensen?
We lie to ourselves. A lot. Doing deals doesn’t yield the deep rewards that come from building up people.?
In careers such as advertising and communications, the dynamics of motivation often take unique forms. While financial incentives play a role, these fields are also driven by creativity, innovation, and the desire to connect with audiences on a deeper level.?
Harvard Business School's Christensen teaches MBA hopefuls how to use management and innovation ideas to make companies stronger. But he also thinks these ideas can help us lead better lives. He asks questions we all wonder about: How can we be happy in our jobs? How can we make sure our family brings us lasting joy? And how do we live with honesty??
The first question's answer comes from Frederick Herzberg's idea: the biggest motivation isn't money, but the chance to learn, grow, contribute, and be recognized. That's why good management can be a really noble job—it offers so many ways to help people find those chances. It's not just about business deals, as many people think.?

Heineken TV Spot, The Superstitious Fan?
Absolutely, as advertisers, understanding the importance of speaking directly to real fans is not just about acknowledging their passion, but about tapping into the very essence of what makes them loyal supporters. Take Heineken's approach in the depicted scenario: rather than simply showcasing their product, they immerse viewers in a relatable fan experience. By portraying the frantic search for the lucky sock and the eventual relief and excitement of settling down to watch the game with a Heineken in hand, the brand authentically connects with its audience. This approach goes beyond traditional advertising; it's about creating moments that resonate deeply with fans, fostering a sense of camaraderie and loyalty that extends far beyond the product itself. By understanding and celebrating these genuine fan experiences, brands like Heineken build meaningful connections with their audience, establishing themselves not just as a beverage choice, but as an integral part of their fans' lives.?Nice one.
