Inspired actions - My actions
After a family fuelled BH weekend I’m making some adjustments to this, the third article in the series.
A reminder of what’s truly important and drives our very core into action: A journey of ‘morphing’ into the person you are – your ‘calling’ and the challenges you encounter along the way.
Entering a new chapter of my ‘journey’ is my health and that also has led to ‘inspired actions’.
Prior to my Covid 19 enforced redundancy I entered into what I could only call at that point the ‘murky world of conservative management’ of some ‘health indicators’. The daughter of a warrior (Mum) who has overcome Ovarian Cancer followed by aggressive breast cancer and continues to walk the Alzheimer journey daily I have witnessed first hand how a positive mindset and healthy nutritional choices can aid recovery times and simply allow one to continue to enjoy life to the full (whatever that full is to each individual and that time in their lives).
For me (and this is a personal journey), I have engaged with some healthy principles that will stay with me for life. TRE – Time Restricted Eating, not only encourages my mental clarity but pair it with a Mediterranean food lifestyle (low carb, lots of protein) and I’m operating at my own personal best. Feeling healthier on the inside as well as the outside has become so much more ‘mindful’ for me and at a time where mental wellbeing is at the forefront of everything we read and listen to I feel like I’m voting for ME.
The reason I led with the information above is to help any readers to see and perhaps identify with the ‘authentic me’. I am not simply a powerhouse of Leadership virtues with quotes/actions or strategic principles/methods – all of which can be honed via skills development and training. How many degrees/masters/academic qualifications do some of the worlds most well-known leaders have? Notice, I didn’t say ‘wealthiest’, that was deliberate. Health trumps wealth 100%.
Actions: During my investments in ‘ME’, I’ve engaged many ‘experts’ and ‘thought leaders’ to help to open my mind, take their learnings on quicker or even become an ‘enhanced’ version of their learnings. NONE of them have ever alleged their teaching/training/coaching is enough without the colonel’s recipe which each time is the ‘inspired action you take’ and just as importantly continue to take until it becomes a habit and moves from the conscious to the unconscious mind. Like taking a breath – of course we have to do this or we simply cease to exist! However, what about brushing our teeth? Does this habit develop because we understand the positive benefits attached to having well maintained teeth and gums so it becomes a conscious unconscious action?
I hope you are still with me because even I had to re-read what I have written three times!
What daily inspired actions are you taking right now to ensure your career/organisation is operating at its premium healthy state? How many ‘inspired actions’ are you taking to ensure the continuity and contingency actions are already present in your timeline/pipeline?
Mine are:
· TRE (time restricted eating)
· Meditation (a wonderful mentor explained this takes practice, more so for an impatient person like me!)
· Consistently living the ‘authentic me’
· Attracting my ‘tribe’ and being open to their contributions
· Continuing to ‘show up’ – looks easy in words – action is the key!
Dare to dream is number 4 in this series – Wow! The possibilities!
I’ll leave you with something one of my key career influencers said to the 25 year old me:
“You don’t know how high you can soar Allena unless you truly spread those wings”

3 年A very well written and good read. I think it is natural that we like to attract our tribe, in other words like minded people. Of course that may reduce our exposure to alternative and diverse views. Which may or may not detract from personal growth.
