A successful business cannot run without a team. You and your team can do everything you put your minds to when you combine the enthusiasm, expertise, and talents of a motivated group of individuals.?
Since humans like to have consistency and stability, changes in the workplace tend to cause uncertainty, worry, and anxiety in both the person affected by the change and the executives who are pursuing it. Regrettably, this has an adverse effect on staff motivation and performance. A good solution to this is to get involved and encourage your employees in their endeavors so they are more likely to be engaged. Any leader with an employee-focused orientation can give a good reason to motivate the team. Through personal experience in leading teams, there are a few steps that can help you become an outstanding team leader who helps employees feel motivated and inspired.
The way a team plays as a whole determines its success. You may have the greatest bunch of individual stars in the world, but if they don’t play together, the club won’t be worth a dime. -? Babe Ruth, baseball legend
Define objectives
Goal-setting is connected to task performance and is the primary source of intrinsic motivation
People should be empowered
Another crucial stage is transparency and direct participation of team members in decision-making
Provide possibilities for self-improvement
Self-improvement comes with providing new opportunities and learning avenues. A leader should strive to provide ample opportunities to their team members through learning a new skill or embracing a newer technology that would help the organization in implementing better processes. Keeping abreast with the latest trend in the industry makes people feel confident and are able to face challenges that require new solutions to the old problems.
Make the vision clear
A clear vision of the business and its key objectives should be engraved in everyone's mind right from the start. This vision should be reminded from time to time through quarterly or yearly company-wide meetings that should require participation from all the employees.? One of the issues faced is inspiring others to follow. To motivate your team, offer a straightforward, clear, and relevant vision for the future. This type of communication should not be one-way but better be in a dialogue mode so that any valid concerns of individuals are addressed and makes the vision clearer in everyone’s mind.

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. - Andrew Carnegie, business magnate and philanthropist
Professional Development and Growth
Increased responsibility has traditionally been utilized by leaders to motivate employees. While this technique may still be valid, performance is greatly enhanced when a leader can assist in the professional growth and development
If you love your work, you’ll be out there every day trying to do it the best you possibly can, and pretty soon everybody around will catch the passion from you – like a fever. - Sam Walton, founder of Walmart
Know your members
People want to know that their leaders are familiar enough with their knowledge, inclinations, and behaviors to work with and motivate them effectively. The finest leaders and coaches spend time getting to know their teams
Find out resource’s best skills
Leaders should also be a good judge to find out which team member is really good at, knowing the expertise of each member and assigning tasks accordingly can lead to desired results within the timeframe. If any team member is good in most sections but weak in any other section, he should be attached with another member so he can overcome his weaknesses and perform well in the future. It will also make the employee feel good and satisfied that he learns other skills too.
Demonstrate your appreciation and value
You must devote time and effort to your group. Every person on your team should feel respected, valued, and appreciated. They need to know that you care about them and are invested in their success. Recognizing their contributions, commitment, and effort demonstrates that they are valued and that the work they do is important. Show your employees respect and admiration for their work in addition to showing appreciation and value. While people want to feel respected, you must establish the ground rules for earning respect. Unfortunately, too many individuals want attention because they have forgotten the importance of respect earned. As a team leader, you may need to teach your team members the value of respect by showing them how to earn it.
Final Thoughts
Becoming a leader is an achievement and to sustain it requires hard work, determination, and focus on the cause. Keeping a team aligned with the organizational objectives is a key trait of a leader and makes you shine from the rest.
