SAVED TO SERVE (5) WHOSE ARE YOU? (3)
Apostle Paul is a model for us as believers. The principle we see in the scripture is - i serve Him because He owns me. I serve Him because i owe my life to Him. Serving God therefore is our response to the magnitude of His loving kindness to us.
"If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour."
John 12:26
1. Service is an act of gratitude to the one who saved us.
He who receives much gives back much. We can't but want to give our best to the one who gave His best for us. We find a fitting illustration in the expensive service offered by Mary in response to the what the Lord had done for her and her family.
"Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment."
John 12:3
This was service prompted by gratitude. What are you doing for God and His kingdom as an act of gratitude for all that He has done for you? We need to ask ourselves everyday - 'what am i doing for God for all He has done for me?' To keep expecting God to bless and keep us and not doing anything in return is ingratitude. Great people are not known for what they get but by what they give.
Paul was proud to proclaim -'Whom i serve.' Are you serving God everyday? Are you serving God in your home, on your job and in every way you can?

I was saved to service. Help me Lord to serve with all I have got, with sincerity, commitment and utmost devotion. To serve is life. Give me grace to serve humbly and faithfully.
