Tell us about an inspiring woman or women in your company

I am very lucky to work with many inspiring women at Cinegy. I am reminded of another IWD almost two years ago, when many of my female colleagues fled Ukraine on foot, by train and by car. They came with their families and a rucksack, to a country that many had not been to before.? In this time, some had to return to look after elderly parents, many remain – their children go to school here, they are learning the language and continue to do their jobs. Each day they miss their home. I know many of my colleagues organize equipment to go to the frontlines, medical supplies, car batteries. I also know not because anyone tells me, but because I see their activity on social media in organizing donations, and I also know these ladies are sending money back to help their men fight. Polina, Alona, Anna, Tanya, Svitlana, Natalia, Olha, Maryna, Olga, Armine, Alma and Sarah. Their quiet dignity, professionalism and positivity is an inspiration to me.?

How can the media technology industry take action to inspire more women to enter it??

In the media technology sector, we can inspire more women by acknowledging the contributions of female leaders in our field. For instance, as a co-founder and MD of Cinegy, I've seen firsthand how leadership can influence an inclusive, supportive environment. It's essential to send a clear message: opportunities in this field are not limited by gender. Implementing initiatives like mentorship programs, targeted recruitment drives for women, and policies that support a healthy work-life balance are key steps to encourage more women to join and excel in the media technology industry.?

But the real change starts much earlier. For example, in our Ukrainian office, we've built strong connections with a local university known for its excellent technical programs. We've successfully recruited many staff from there, including a significant number of women, and have maintained a balanced gender split in technical roles like development, testing, and support.?

The shift needs to begin at the school level, with encouragement for all students to engage in STEM subjects from an early age and throughout their academic journey. The industry can contribute by sponsoring local schools and colleges, and offering networking and mentoring opportunities.?

What is your company doing to achieve inclusion??

Cinegy actively works towards building an inclusive and flexible environment, one that values diversity and promotes a culture of respect. The company’s strategy includes implementing inclusive policies and providing training that emphasizes the importance of a diverse workforce. Cinegy believes that a mix of backgrounds and perspectives is not just good for company morale, but it's also a catalyst for innovation. Our approach is more than just about compliance; it's about creating a space where everyone, from any background, feels they have a voice and can make a significant impact. Enabling people through flexible work practices ensures that each person can balance their work and private lives. Treating people with respect and trust reaps rewards for everyone.
