Meeting client's MEP/FP engineering needs & optimizing performances to ensure efficiency & cost-effectiveness.
At B&H Engineers, we’ve worked on college and university campuses to help create environments where students, faculty, and researchers can thrive. Higher education projects require a balance between innovation, sustainability, and cost-efficiency. Whether we’re working on a brand-new building or renovating an existing space, we focus on solutions that support the long-term success of students, faculty, and researchers.
One of these projects involved UT Arlington’s Administrative Building, formerly Trinity Hall. Originally planned as a renovation of a 1963 residence hall, after a site investigation, it became clear that a renovation wouldn’t be the safest or most cost-effective option. We worked closely with the design-build team to create an entirely new, three-story, 40,000 SF building that now houses large meeting spaces, office areas, and even a media recording studio.
From an engineering standpoint, one of the key features we designed was an 800kW natural gas generator that ensures the building remains fully operational even during outages. We also connected the building to UTA’s central plant, making use of the existing chilled water, steam, and domestic water systems to improve efficiency and reduce overall costs.
At UNT Health Science Center, we renovated the 12,580 SF Alzheimer’s Imaging Research Suite within the Center for BioHealth. The renovation included two 3T MRI suites, two PET/CT suites, and a radioactive isotopes laboratory, all designed to meet strict manufacturer guidelines.
On the second floor, we converted former auditorium and classroom spaces into state-of-the-art working laboratories, improving accessibility and workflow with new passageways between work areas and class spaces.
With expertise in medium- and low-voltage technology and controls, we ensured the design met both technical demands and budget requirements.
We’re proud to contribute to these campuses and look forward to continuing our work in higher education.
We had a great time on a chilly morning at Klyde Warren Park supporting the Architecture and Design Foundation at Form Follows Fitness 5K. So much fun seeing so many of our partners in the architectural community and sharing our Chick-fil-a with attendees! Hope to see you at next year's event!
Celebrating #Eweek a bit late due to the crazy Texas weather, but we don't really need an excuse to hang out with our awesome co-workers! We had a great time catching up with both current and former co-workers with lots of laughter and conversation. Thanks to everyone on the engineering team for all your dedication and commitment to B&H and our partners!
