Insights and results from five months of Ahu Jobs

Tūhonotia ana te Māori ki ngā āheinga | Connecting Māori to opportunity

It has been five months since we launched?www.ahujobs.maori.nz?and we thought we should share the following insights and results with you.

Ngā mihi to our supporters and contributors…

We continue to be heartened by the overwhelmingly positive response from the teams, leaders and individuals that have heard our kōrero and vision. We wouldn’t have reached this point without the whakaaro, feedback and advice from our network and collaborators - ngā mihi for your contribution.

Ngā mihi to our advertisers…

We are very pleased by the response we have had from the many forward-thinking organisations who understand our vision and who have indicated they would like to partner with us in connecting Māori to opportunity. We have been humbled to see the volume and variety of opportunities continue to grow on site.?

A big whakamihi to the over 100 advertisers who have jumped on board the waka and?to our advertising partners HainesAttract, Neon Logic and Stanley St and our regular recruitment agency supporters Kin Recruitment and Niche for their support as well.

Our talent community is growing strong…

We’ve had over 500 people sign up to our talent community and as a key metric to understand our success, we are pleased to share the following insights from this growing group:

  • Te Reo Māori: close to 60% who self-report as having intermediate level skills or higher
  • Tikanga: close to 90% who self-report as having an intermediate level understanding or higher
  • 60+ Iwi represented
  • A broad mix of backgrounds, experience levels and locations represented.

A large proportion of this talent is open to being contacted directly by recruiters and employers and we’re exploring options on how to enable these connections.

Our reach is growing…

We are pleased to see our reach growing and the positive engagement we are receiving across Ahu Jobs content areas and our social media channels. It is clear our vision is resonating with both candidates and advertisers.

  • 60,000+?page views
  • Close to 1,000?‘apply now’ clicks
  • 1,400+ social media followers

Our priority areas over the next few months…

  • Work with employers to showcase their value proposition through employer profiles – watch this space!
  • Encourage employers to think beyond the transactional ‘post and pray’ and consider more strategic recruitment initiatives – which we can support (e.g. strategic workforce planning, talent pooling and pipelining, employer branding)
  • Continue to grow the volume and variety of opportunities. In particular, we would love to support more Māori economy, Iwi and Māori not for profit organisations in finding the talent they need to thrive. We offer significantly discounted rates for these organisations so if you know of any who might be interested - please send them our way
  • Continue to grow our reach and talent community and provide them with content and support to aid their career ambitions
  • Deliver to our commitments of supporting Māori in the recruitment process and holding advertisers to account
  • Run our first up-skill webinars for the community and refine our career navigation offering
  • Continue to advocate for the recognition of Te Ao Māori capability
  • Ongoing site enhancements.

Ngā mihi nui for coming on the journey with us. We are just getting started!!?
