?Discussing the new hiring trends and practices in the Industry...
?1)??? Know Your Prospect: Recruitment practices in India have shifted with the advent of advanced employee background verification mechanisms. Companies are increasingly investing in thorough background checks and "Know Your Prospect" initiatives, including digital investigations, social media audits, and deeper involvement of verification agencies to authenticate employee credentials. This has reshaped the recruitment landscape, as organizations are now more willing to allocate resources to ensure they hire the right candidate.
2)??? Shift from need-based Hiring to Talent Based Hiring: There has been a notable shift from need-based hiring to talent-based hiring, where companies are continuously on the lookout for skilled talent, even if no immediate vacancies exist. This ongoing search for high-calibre candidates has created a scenario where existing employees are increasingly at risk of being replaced by better prospects. As a result, this approach has led to significant resource movement, with deserving candidates finding improved opportunities and companies focusing on building a stronger workforce.
3)??? Automated Evaluation Systems: There is increasing reliance on automated mechanisms for candidate selection, with BOTs being used to reduce human errors and evaluate a larger pool of applicants in a shorter timeframe, ensuring greater accuracy. AI models are now widely employed to screen CVs and assess the suitability of candidates for specific roles. Automated systems are heavily utilized for technical evaluations, competency assessments, linguistic proficiency, and aptitude tests. For crucial roles, tech-powered, case-study-based evaluation systems are being adopted by agencies to assess the practical application capabilities of candidates, enhancing the overall recruitment process.
4)??? Prioritizing skills over Educational: The industry is shifting towards prioritizing skills over educational credentials due to a significant shortage of skilled manpower. As a result, reliance on degrees as a primary criterion for selection has decreased, and skill-based hiring is on the rise. Even tech companies, traditionally focused on formal qualifications, are now embracing this concept. This trend is gaining momentum, particularly for lower-level roles, and is expected to continue shaping hiring practices in the foreseeable future.
5)??? Median age of employees: Industries are increasingly focusing on lowering the median age of their workforce as part of their strategic efforts. Companies are looking to engage a younger workforce to address key challenges such as quicker adaptability, continuous learning, and reduced resistance to change. This shift also aligns with the growing emphasis on technology-driven operations, where younger employees are often more adept. In addition, younger workers help reduce manpower costs. In many cases, traditional management roles are being replaced by technology, with a preference for billable resources who directly contribute to revenue generation.
