To achieve any goal in life that is worthwhile, we have to go through a process before our big win. And this process isn't all rosy, it takes effort, time, sacrifice, and hard work. This is one crucial area of life people don't talk about, we are quick to share our wins, motivational quotes, and stuff and not the process that got us there and how we were able to go through it. I shared a post on this last week you can check it out here
We can't skip this process but we can enjoy it, I also shared a post about loving your journey and the importance of enjoying your process. Click the link below to get the full gist
In my last post, which is the post linked above, I promised to share how to actually enjoy the process and I am here to do justice to that. Let's get into it, shall we?
First off, To enjoy your journey you have to ensure you are on the right path. Let me address this real quick, If you are not intentional about your life, have specific goals you want to achieve, on the path to becoming whom God has called you to be, and making the most of life then the topic of Process is not for you. Simply put, if you don't know where you are going then you don't have a journey. You need to go figure yourself out and then begin your journey.
If you are already on the path to becoming, weldone, how is it going? Tough yeah? I know. We can not avoid the struggle and pain that comes with it but we can enjoy the process that takes us there. And here is how
- Gratitude - There is something about being grateful that brings peace and calm to our minds, spirit, and body. I can't really explain it. When you are grateful, there is no anxiety because there is a sense of satisfaction and contentment. I know you are not even halfway close to that goal but you are like 5 to 10 steps away from the starting point. Be grateful for the strength, energy, and courage to be able to make those few steps. A lot of people see the goals in their minds but they are not able to take action and here you are doing the damn thing! common! Be grateful. You can make this a habit by writing 5 things you are grateful for about your journey and constantly going through the list throughout your day.
- Acknowledge and celebrate growth - My dear, growth is not beans! It takes effort, time, and a lot of other tough factors to make it happen, so it is worth celebrating and highlighting. Give yourself a day or week off, sit down and review your journey, acknowledge the growth, let there be a "how it started vs how it is going moment", acknowledge those little wins, post it, talk about it, brag a little, it is not easy. Yes your colleagues have done more but this is your own journey, you are going to own it, enjoy it and push through until you get there.
- Identify those things about your process that connects with your passion- You know that big dreams you want to achieve are broken down into steps and things you need to do regularly or daily to get there. List out those things and also list out those things you love/things that make you happy, find where those things meet and do them regularly. For example, let's say you want to be a successful entrepreneur or creator, the things you need to do to achieve this are reading, networking, showing up online, selling, etc, and then let's say you love being creative, wearing a certain piece of clothing, innovating, etc. Now to find the connection here, since you love being creative and then content creation is something you need to do to achieve your goals, create more and enjoy yourself while at it. Don't just do it because you have to achieve your goals but do it because you enjoy it. There might be other things you have to do but do not enjoy, don't think so much about them just do them but then immerse your emotions in those aspects you enjoy, think about it often, look forward to creating, look forward to innovating things for your business. Immense your emotions on the aspect of your process that you enjoy, that way they fill up a large portion of your mind and you think less of the struggles and pain.
- Be passionate - Passions are not always natural, they can be developed. the more you consistently believe so much in a thing, put in your best and all you've got, and become so zealous and fervent, you are building passion inside. Passion is fuel, it makes you want to do more, and it excites you. Now that is the feeling you should have about your journey. Seek to be the best at what you do, be passionate about growth, and go for it any chance you get. Let growth be your ultimate drive and not just the results alone.
- Have fun while at it - I can not stress this enough, please have fun while at it. Define what fun means to you and imbibe that into your workflow. Change your work environment. If you love nature, go to a place that gives that vibe. Try out new methods and strategies, add humor to your content strategy or workflow, find a community of people of like minds or a business/work bestie, and share inside jokes ( Debbie never disappoints lol ). The journey doesn't have to be all about the struggles, it can be fun too. Enjoy the process while it lasts because you would hit your goal one day and miss those good old days when you showed up consistently.
- Rest and protect your personal space - yea I know that motivational speaker said you should only get 3 hours of sleep a day but please dear if your body is not having it go ahead and sleep as long as you need to. At a point in my life, I didn't know the difference between day and night cos all I did was work. How did that go for me? Really bad, my body crashed, my health deteriorated, and my mental health became a mess. Your body and your mind are essential tools needed to hit that goal and succeed on earth so please take care of them. You don't have to follow or listen to everybody online please use the block button as much as you can. If they make you feel inferior, intimated, lost, or devalued they shouldn't be in your space and that's on period!
I shared these tips from my personal experience and I hope it helps you on your journey.

2 年Very wholesome read! I could not agree more with the emphasis you placed on not just gratitude and passion but also having fun and resting. They are all equally important and should come hand in hand. I will definitely keep these things in mind as I tread on my journey and can only hope that everyone else who finds this also does the same.
