In today's world, there is a huge focus and pressure on companies like ours to create a people-first culture. With wellbeing and engagement on the tip of every HR team's tongue, the work place is no longer somewhere you simply go to earn a wage, but instead a place where we can develop and grow careers that shape every aspect of our lives.?


Here at Friday Media Group, we understood the importance of putting our employees first, and that in doing so it would lead to happier, healthier and more satisfied employees. However, creating a people-first culture is not an easy feat, and we knew we needed an advanced HRM system to go beyond the basic core HRM platforms that we have had in the past to help us achieve this.


This is where Hello Friday comes in. HelloFriday is an employee engagement and HRM platform that strives to put employees at the forefront of the business, which is exactly what we were looking for and something that we had struggled to find with other providers. Here are a few ways in which Hello Friday helped us to achieve our people-first goals:


  1. Fostering a sense of community

At the heart of? the platform is a social feed where employees from all seven of our office locations can share updates, photos, and videos, and connect with each other on a more personal level. With the community and news feed features, employees are able to bond over common interests and form organic relationships that are more difficult to establish whilst working remotely.? HelloFriday also has a powerful virtual event tool that allows employees to attend conferences and meetings regardless of whether they are based in our Brighton Head Office, or in our tech hub in Bangalore.? This has not only helped us break down silos and encourage collaboration, but it has helped to integrate our overseas offices and reduce cultural divides. All of this has helped us to create more cohesive teams that work well together to achieve their goals.


2. Promoting recognition and appreciation

We have always tried to encourage an open dialogue of recognition across the business, but have struggled to maintain this in the past without the right tools. Hello Friday allows managers and peers alike to send each other feedback and recognise their colleagues in real time, whilst also being able to share these achievements with the wider business in a user friendly way. It really is true that when employees feel appreciated, they are more likely to be engaged and motivated, and to go above and beyond in their work, this is something that we’ve seen across the business thanks to Hello Friday.


3. Streamlining our HR Processes

Behind every HR team is a whole lot of administration that needs to be completed to keep the business running. We found ourselves spending a lot of time focusing on this, which took us away from being able to focus on strategic planning, employee wellbeing and creating a positive working culture. HelloFriday has allowed us to automate the majority of our time consuming HR administration tasks, and consolidate a number of different features such as benefits, policies and events into one place, which has given us more time to spend focusing on the things that really matter, like making Friday Media Group a great place to work.?


Creating a people-first culture is a continuous process that requires time, effort and dedication. Despite this, Hello Friday has shown us that with the right tools, creating a people first culture can be much easier than you’d think and that by providing tools that directly encourage recognition and collaboration, employees will feel valued and cared for by the business. We’ve seen a significant increase in employee retention, engagement and satisfaction since the introduction of Hello Friday at Friday Media Group.?
