I'm reading through my lit review so you don't have to #1
I read "Feedback Urbanism at Play: Formation of Publics through Playful Friction in Urban Interfaces" by Simon Wind and Ole B. Jensen and here's what I learned:
When evaluating technological performance within urban contexts, it's crucial to consider its impact on human-to-human interaction, community formation, and the level of engagement users have with the system. This evaluation can fall into two primary interaction models: direct user-to-system interaction, which fosters immediate feedback, and user-to-interface-to-user interaction, which mediates human connections through digital interfaces.
The interaction between technology, people, and urban spaces is imperative in shaping the public urban realm. A significant insight into this dynamic is that public urban spaces are moulded through standard and social performances and practices.
However, this interaction is not without its challenges. the unexpectedness and incomprehensiveness of new technology often introduced by technology can create friction, where urban technology systems may fall short of their potential to enhance urban life meaningfully.
Addressing these challenges necessitates embracing diversity, inconsistency, incompleteness, and multiplicity within the urban technology landscape. Consequently, it encourages broader participation, enabling individuals to co-develop, find ownership, and discover relevance in their engagement with technology and data.
