Insightflow is 1; thoughts of a proud parent

It is hard to believe that we’re a year on from founding Insightflow. This presents a great opportunity to reflect on what we have achieved so far, and our plans for the coming year.

We set up Insightflow with a mission to “help people collaborate to build customer & market knowledge”. It wouldn’t be a start-up if everything had gone smoothly, but the good definitely outweighs the bad.?

Throughout the year, we have had the support of a brilliant set of advisors, mentors and industry experts who have shared our journey so far. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who has been involved!

Insightflow now has a great virtual team spread across 5 countries. The fact that most of us have not yet had the chance to meet face to face has not stopped a great team culture from developing.?

Our Manifesto for a new approach to market and customer research is steadily being refined - and we’re always willing to get up on a soap box to evangelise the thinking. (Equally we are happy to chat about it quietly over a couple of drinks!).

We have started to add value to the research community; running events covering topics ranging from AI to Data Quality. We are building knowledge bases covering all aspects of doing research. In June we launched the Insightflow Café - a focal point for the research community and are delighted by the exciting and growing membership.?

The connection with the community is really helping us to understand the needs of professional researchers. As importantly, we are deepening our understanding of those that need customer and market knowledge professionally and often research it themselves. Our platform will serve both groups.

We are ready to launch elements of our solution with more to come through the rest of this year. Our platform will help people collaborate across organizations and teams to build customer and market knowledge. This is conceptually similar to the way that Github helps software teams to collaborate to build software.

We have defined the Insightflow Knowledge Atom (a new way of capturing data so that it can be created, shared and reused in the most effective way) and the Insightflow Knowledge Graph (using bespoke technology to tie content together).

One of our guiding principles is to support great research in important topics. Driven by this motive we will shortly be launching our first two shared research libraries, covering the green economy and Diversity & Inclusion. If you’d like to find out how you can contribute to, or access these libraries please do get in touch!

From a business perspective, we raised funding back in May. We are planning to close an SEIS round at the end of November. If you, or anyone in your network might be interested please get in touch soon as we expect the round to be oversubscribed. Minimum of £10k investment and we are looking to raise up to £90k.

It has been a very busy 12 months and we go into year 2 with our ideas better developed, our audiences and mission better defined, and with huge excitement for what the future will bring.

Congrats on the first year - now you can look forward to reaching the Terrible Twos. Just hope employees don't start throwing tantrums and refusing to nap.
