Today's Insight Series focuses on a software testing life cycle toolbox diagram that was architectured while on a consultancy engagement in the recent past. I wanted to publish the diagram (modified slightly) for those who wish to gain some background information which still applies in this day and age, albeit, on a company-by-company basis.
What is the software testing life cycle toolbox?
The software testing life cycle toolbox illustrates a testing life cycle model consisting of the Test Initiation, Test Planning, Test Execution, Test Reporting, and Test Closeout phases which provides a standard for testing processes and controls (as shown below):
While heavily artifact-driven, the software testing life cycle toolbox can be leveraged by those companies following or looking to define similar artifacts as part of their process. There are certainly many variations, mine being one, that was established to architect a recommended future state environment based on a previously conducted assessment of the current state in which I was working. Hopefully, this post was able to shed some light, both in narration and pictorially.
