Insight Coaching FAQs

Insight Coaching FAQs

What is insight coaching?

Is this some voodoo where I think I have all the answers and tell you that you are doing everything wrong?

Do I advise you to move into a yurt to be closer to the universe?

Neither of these things is true.

In reality, insight coaching is a way to help you figure out the answers for yourself by thinking about great questions in a powerful conversation with me.

Here are some answers to some of the most often-asked questions:

  • What is insight coaching?

Let’s start with the definition of insight and coaching and go from there.

  • Insight - The capacity to gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of a person or thing.
  • Coaching - Coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person, called a coach, supports a learner or client in achieving a specific personal or professional goal by providing training and guidance.

Insight coaching is a form of development in which an experienced person helps you gain an accurate and deep intuitive understanding of what you are looking to uncover in your life.

  • What’s involved in insight coaching?

Insight coaching is a way to slow everything down through the use of great questions in a powerful conversation.

  • How does it work?

We create a partnership where we have a powerful conversation for an initial time of 90 minutes.?

I say an initial time as insight can happen in 5 minutes and that may be the most powerful insight you have ever had.

The power of insight coaching is not about the time involved. It’s about you taking the time to think about what that insight means to you and how you put that insight into action.

Many times, the powerful understanding of that insight will come after the session is completed when you have had time to reflect on it.

  • What is it, really?

The best way to figure out what insight coaching really is is to experience it for yourself. A simple description of insight coaching will fall short in so many aspects.

  • How do I experience it? How much does that cost?

I’m different from many coaches out there. You get the experience of insight coaching to find out for yourself what it's all about through a gifted session.

  • Why offer a gifted session?

A gifted session allows us both to get to know each other better, you get to experience what insight coaching is, and we both see if we would be a good fit to continue.

  • Does everyone get a gifted session?

No and here’s why.

Some people just don’t get along together, for whatever reason.

I reserve the right to decline a gifted session with someone just as they can choose to not want to schedule one.

This is a partnership and each partner has power in this dynamic.

  • Do you tell me what to do?

I don’t tell you what to do at all. In fact, I do the opposite and ask questions to let you find the answer, or insight, on your own.

An insight coming from you is much more powerful than anything that I could tell you.

My job is to know how to show up, hold space without judgment, ask powerful often challenging questions, and assist you in discovering your own wisdom.

  • You talk a lot about slowing down.

I help you slow down so that you can get a clear understanding of what you are looking to do, take action to make that happen, and move toward the life that you desire.

Going fast in the wrong direction with the wrong idea will help very little.?

We slow down so that we can speed up, later.

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.

  • Your life must be all figured out to be helping others.

We all have “stuff” that we are dealing with in one form or another.

I have my own stories and challenges that I work on.

Fears, insecurities, and my own brain getting in the way.

I don’t have to be an expert in what you are doing. In fact, I don’t want to be an expert in what you are doing.?

By not being the expert, I can ask the simple questions that can lead you to slow down and dismantle the stories that you have built.

  • Are you a therapist or counselor?

I am neither of those. I don’t deal with deep trauma or diagnosed mental disorders and will refer you to a mental health professional that can help you work through those areas.?

Therapists and counselors tend to look at the past and how it’s influencing the present. As an insight coach, I focus on the present and look at how we can use where you are now to craft the future that you desire.

  • What can we talk about then?

Except for issues surrounding deep trauma, the opportunities are almost limitless.

We can talk about your fears, challenges, what you want for your future, and a great number of other things that I can help support you with.

This is one of the greatest things about insight coaching, one area can help make a significant impact in a completely different area.

  • Do I have to have a huge challenge or obstacle that I am working through?

No, you don’t.

Insight coaching doesn’t have to be about fixing problems.

Insight coaching can be about working to improve aspects of your life that aren’t serving you in the best way.

Some of the stories that you carry around have protected you for so long, you forget they are there.

When this happens, the stories still help guide your thoughts and behaviors, even if they are no longer in your best interest.

This is what can make wanting to improve and grow difficult at times.

  • How do we get started?

I work by invitation and referral only.

We have a 1 to 1 conversation first, often in the form of a gifted session, although not always.

We connect, schedule a time, and then both show up at the assigned time.

Let's connect and together we can start to take steps so you can create the life that you want to live.
