INSIEME A SCARPA IN UN AMBIZIOSO PROGETTO DI DESIGN-FOR-RECYCLING

Sciarada Industria Conciaria ha preso parte al progetto Life Re-Shoes, iniziativa promossa dall’azienda Scarpa, attiva nella produzione di calzature per la montagna e per le attività outdoor. Il progetto prevede la realizzazione di nuove scarpe, nate da scarpe riciclate.

Sciarada partecipa al progetto mettendo a disposizione le proprie competenze ed i propri strumenti.

Il progetto Life Re-Shoes beneficia di un finanziamento nell'ambito del programma Life dell'Unione Europea, che prevede la produzione ed il commercio di un nuovo modello a marchio Scarpa entro il 2026. Il risultato di questo progetto sarà, infatti, la produzione e messa in commercio di un nuovo modello di calzatura del brand trevigiano, realizzato con un'apposita selezione e riciclo delle scarpe giunte a fine vita.

L'obiettivo è quello di ricavare materie sufficienti a produrre 15mila nuove paia di scarpe, grazie al completo riutilizzo di tutti i componenti delle calzature raccolte. Il nuovo modello, prodotto con i materiali dal riciclo, sarà sviluppato per poter essere a sua volta più facilmente riciclato alla fine del suo utilizzo, applicando i concetti del design-for-recycling.

Ad oggi la raccolta ha superato la soglia di 1.500 paia di calzature modello “Mojito” del brand Scarpa, già destinate al riciclo e restituite all'azienda da parte dei consumatori. In collaborazione con Università di Bologna e Sciarada Industria Conciaria, è stata avviata una fase preliminare di sperimentazione dell'idrolisi in laboratorio, i cui esiti in termini di riutilizzo dei materiali prodotti sono stati positivi. Imminente anche l'inizio della fase industriale del processo, che si svolgerà in un impianto appositamente progettato nella conceria toscana.

Il progetto Life Re-Shoes è una soluzione circolare e sostenibile ideata nell'ottica della risoluzione del problema dei rifiuti. Nello specifico il processo si basa sulla dissoluzione selettiva della pelle per idrolisi. Il liquido così ottenuto viene utilizzato per la realizzazione di un prodotto ecosostenibile, riducendo fortemente l’aggiunta di sostanze chimiche nelle fasi successive alla concia. La parte rimanente della scarpa verrà invece riutilizzata separando la suola, che sarà macinata e riciclata mescolandola assieme per realizzare quella del nuovo modello. I lacci, i tessuti di fodera e i rinforzi andranno a costituire fino all'80 per cento delle nuove solette e dei rinforzi interni.

Un’iniziativa ambiziosa che intende dare un contributo significativo al rispetto per l'ambiente ricavando materie prime prodotte dalle calzature usate e dagli scarti di produzione. TOGETHER WITH SCARPA IN AN AMBITIOUS DESIGN-FOR-RECYCLING PROJECT

Sciarada Industria Conciaria took part in the Life Re-Shoes project, an initiative promoted by the Scarpa company, active in the production of footwear for mountain and outdoor activities. The project involves the creation of new shoes, born from recycled shoes.

Sciarada is participating in the project by providing its expertise and tools.

The Life Re-Shoes project benefits from funding under the European Union's Life program, which envisions the production and marketing of a new Scarpa-branded model by 2026. The result of this project will be the production and marketing of a new footwear model from the Treviso-based brand, made by specially sorting and recycling shoes that have reached the end of their life.

The goal is to obtain enough materials to produce 15 thousand new pairs of shoes, thanks to the complete reuse of all components of the collected footwear. The new model, produced with the materials from recycling, will be developed to be in turn more easily recycled at the end of its use, applying design-for-recycling concepts.

To date, collection has exceeded the threshold of 1,500 pairs of Scarpa brand "Mojito" model footwear, which have already been sent for recycling and returned to the company by consumers. In collaboration with the University of Bologna and Sciarada Industria Conciaria, a preliminary phase of hydrolysis experimentation has been launched in the laboratory, the results of which in terms of reuse of the materials produced have been positive. Also imminent is the start of the industrial phase of the process, which will take place in a specially designed plant in the Tuscan tannery.

The Life Re-Shoes project is a circular and sustainable solution designed with a view to solving the waste problem. Specifically, the process is based on the selective dissolution of leather by hydrolysis. The resulting liquid is used for the creation of an eco-sustainable product, strongly reducing the addition of chemical substances in the stages following tanning. Instead, the remaining part of the shoe will be reused by separating the sole, which will be ground and recycled by mixing it together to make that of the new model. Laces, lining fabrics, and reinforcements will make up to 80 percent of the new insoles and inner reinforcements.

This is an ambitious initiative that aims to make a significant contribution to environmental friendliness by deriving secondary raw materials from used footwear and production waste. Leading national newspapers and magazines have written about the Life Re-Shoes project, citing Scarpa and Sciarada Industria Conciaria.
