Latest in generative AI requires no training on 3D model data
Researchers from Google are the latest to unveil a generative AI tool capable of turning text prompts into digital 3D representations.
This latest release, dubbed DreamFusion, requires no prior training – generating 3D representations of objects without 3D data.
Google’s team proposed the concept of Score Distillation Sampling – a way of generating samples from a diffusion model by optimizing a loss function.
New culture secretary decries ‘red tape of GDPR'
In one of a series of rollbacks for the U.K. Government, Michelle Donelan, the secretary of state for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, announced plans to scrap the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
The proposed data regime changes include removing the need for small businesses to undertake data protection impact assessments or appoint a data protection officer.

It would also focus on reducing ‘user consent’ forms – instead adopting an opt-in model to allow users to set their online cookie preferences to opt out automatically.
However, in her speech addressing the plans, Donelan said the U.K. wants to emulate data regimes in countries such as Japan, South Korea and Israel ? which prompted Prime Minister Liz Truss to clarify that she wants provisions made to the bill so as not to infringe on free speech.

It might have felt like Google Cloud Next was overshadowed by MetaConnect this year, but Google unveiled three new releases and a slew of updates.
Google also rolled out expanded support for data formats such as Apache Iceberg, commitment to the OpenXLA Project and integrations with several partners, including MongoDB, ServiceNow, Sisu Data, Collibra and Palantir Technologies .
