INSIDER MIDLANDS RESIDENTIAL PROPERTY AWARDS 2022
Simon Delahunty-Forrest
Assistant Director Development Planning & Development Birmingham City Council
Well what a special evening last night was for BCC and our colleagues Lendlease, Arcadis and Turner & Townsend capped by the awards for:
Housebuilder of the Year
Sponsored by?Gowling WLG
Winner:?Birmingham City Council
The judges were impressed by the scale and quality of the council's projects, and its unwavering commitment to creating communities and prioritising placemaking. A local authority which speaks with authority when it comes to residential development.
Residential Regeneration Project of the Year
Sponsored by?Waterman Infrastructure & Environment
Winner:?Perry Barr Regeneration Scheme, Birmingham?(Birmingham City Council, Arcadis, Lendlease Construction, Turner & Townsend)
After years of underinvestment, the £700m regeneration of Perry Barr will be a lasting legacy of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games. And the 1,416 homes it will create will make a significant contribution to city’s housing need.
BMHT have consistently won at the Insider Residential Property Awards.?This is a sign of real confidence in ability to deliver not only as a local authority, but as a strong contributor to the industry.?
Perry Barr Regeneration scheme is a testament to team working and collaboration from vision, planning, inception and delivery. As the BCC lead it fills me with great pride that the award not only acknowledges the results on the ground but also the value of team working.
It would not be appropriate for anyone to say it was down to one person as this truly is partnership working at it's best.
More importantly the scheme as time will prove will make a difference to the lives of the good people of Perry Barr.
