Insider Information: Sales Is More Than The Sale
My job is cooler than yours. It is not my intent to put down other careers or industries. I say that my job is cooler because I am very proud and lucky to get to promote the work that Taylor Studios does.
For the past year, I have been blown away by my everyday work assignments. I have been able to meet incredible people and see stunning places. Each person and place has made a huge impact that will stay with me forever. The memories from these experiences are ones that I hope never fade.
Over the past 13 years, my career has led me down many unique paths and I have been very fortunate to work with outstanding people in different industries. However, I must say that my experiences with Taylor Studios have been the most amazing adventures that I have ever had while on the job. A common phrase from me is, “They pay me to do this???”
Just a few months after starting, I found myself in California. As an Illinois native, going to any state that has any landscape shape other than “flat” is exciting. As soon as I stepped off the plane, it was a non-stop tour of multiple county parks. I was greeted by a wonderful human who became my tour guide for the day. Together we saw six county parks, each offering the community a connection with nature. I was able to see the amazing progress that the staff had been making on renovating visitor centers as well as take in the beautiful scenery of Santa Clara County. With my tour guide at the wheel, I was able to stare in awe at the dry, desert mountains to the East and the luscious mountains to the West.
My adventures continued the next day with a trip to two state parks. I left early from my hotel room to enjoy my drive and soak in the beautiful landscape. As I drove into the Big Basin Redwoods State Park, the Redwood trees surrounded me and were an incredible sight to see. I only wished that I had my tour guide back to drive or a self-driving car so that I could take photos along the way. When I arrived at the park and finally parked my car, I was able to stare at the beauty that surrounded me. I walked around the main entrance to the park and enjoyed the gift shop, nature museum, and café.
I left Big Basin to venture towards the ocean and Highway 1. The roads out of the park were winding and as I turned one of the many corners, a deer crossed my path. Nature is inspiring. I had goosebumps as I watched the deer cross the road and disappear in the forest. As I drove out of Big Basin, I soon came to Highway 1 and another beautiful nature scene came to view. To one side was the ocean while on the other was a forest. At home in Illinois, my typical views on either side of the road are corn and soybean fields. Needless to say, I highly recommend visiting Rancho del Oso State Park. The park is a rare jewel that embraces both forest and ocean views.
The visitor center was closed that day to the public. I met with the Park Ranger who explained the importance of the visitor center and the park. He claimed it was the most beautiful place in California. As I took my private tour and examined each exhibit, I don’t think I read one word on a graphic panel. Instead, I listened to each story from the Park Ranger about the popularity of the programs with the visitors. As he was telling me about a hiking trip, his phone rang. I overheard the conversation as he stepped onto the porch. The call was about adding another person to the upcoming hiking trip and all the questions that they had to ensure they would be able to join the experience. The excitement in the conversation as Park Ranger answered question after question from the caller showed me that he was in the perfect job.
At the end of any day, whether that is a great adventure or staring at my computer, I get to help our customers share with the world the beautiful stories that they possess. To me, the beauty in these stories is more than the facts. The beauty is in the passion and hearts of the people that I meet. As my adventures with Taylor Studios continue, I am thrilled to see what is next and how it can be shared.
