Recently, I had the privilege to listen from Dr. GlenVo (Founder and CEO of Nifty Thrifty Dentists) speak to a group of over 200 marketers in the Conquer Local Think Tank, led by Dennis Yu (CEO of Blitzmetrics).
If you have been a dentist for very long, I'm sure you have heard of Dr. Glenn Vo.

Dr. Vo is a practicing dentist and a leading influencer in the dental industry. He has two podcasts, leads a Facebook group with over 24,000 dentists, and he has been a speaker at numerous conferences, is a Bestselling Author, and is about to launch a series of stellar courses.
Dr. Vo took center stage and all of us were captivated for 50 minutes listening to him provide immense value on how to market to dentists.
Because my agency solely focuses on marketing for dentists, I was taking notes (three pages) as if I was studying for a final exam.
The value that Dr. Vo shared was so valuable I wanted to share it with you too.
If you want to market to dentists you MUST do these things:
- Do your research on dental terminology. You don't have to be a dental expert, but you need to know some of the terminologies.
- Understand the dynamics of dental practices. Dental practices have a team and being nice to the team will go a long way.
- Be professional. Don't attempt to contact a dentist in a white tank top shirt. If you don't appear professional you won't gain their attention.
- Don't be late for a meeting. If you're lucky enough to get a time to speak with a dentist, don't be a second late. Dentists are extremely busy, and they don't have time (and they won't make time) to wait for you.
- Over-deliver on your promises. Dentists are promised a lot of things from a lot of people, and many times are left disappointed. Go above and beyond with your services. It will pay off in the long run.

BONUS TIPS:
- Be where the dentists are. Get in as many dentists groups as you can, but don't be a spammer. Listen, ask intelligent questions, and learn.
- Be transparent and honest. If you are new to marketing for dentists let them know, and follow bonus tip 3.
- Give your first dentist client a sweetheart deal. If you're new to marketing dentists don't give your services away for free (dentists don't expect that), instead give them a sweetheart of a deal.
- Don't cold call the front office. If you do this you will never reach the dentist. Figure out about to get to the gatekeeper.
- Make your email stand out. Never send a generic or boring email. Do you homework on the dentists and practice.
- Send a letter on nice stationery. If the dental practice is local send them a nice letter (with swag). Dentists get a lot of mail every day, so make sure you stand out.
I am grateful to Dennis Yu and the Conquer Local Think Tank for inviting Dr. Glenn Vo to speak. I have learned so many ways I need to improve how I approach dentists with my marketing services.
According to Dr. Vo, he gets contacted nearly every day by a marketer, and every time he tells them no. My goal is to heed Dr. Vo's tips that I listed above when I reach out to a dental practice.
With the knowledge and skills that I am learning from Dennis Yu, and as I continue to learn from Dr. Vo, I will be able to scale my marketing agency for dentists very soon.
