PP Control & Automation
World-leaders in strategic outsourcing solutions for machine builders.
Welcome to the year’s first edition of InsideOutsourcing.
We have some exciting news to share, having kick-started the year with much optimism and ambition. Keep reading to learn more about a big investment in automation after a record year and our goals for the year ahead.
Also in this edition, we recognise National Apprenticeship Week #NAW2024 by sharing a video that perfectly demonstrates the typical day in the life of an engineering apprentice.
Furthermore, there’s excitement in the air as we find ourselves in contention for another award, scheduled to be announced this month.
All this and an introduction to our latest creative campaign that faces the niggling critters of outsourcing head-on in InsideOutsourcing issue 19.
Enjoy!
Investment in automation and people puts PP C&A on course for £40m sales
PP Control & Automation has set its sights on breaking the £40m sales revenue barrier in 2024, having seen sales rise from £24m to £36m over the last twelve months.
It is now looking to add a further £4m of orders by investing in more automation at its West Midlands factory, starting with the £250,000 integration of a new Komax Zeta 640 harness machine fitted with twister, ferrule station and 2-off crimp press.

Niggling Critters
Perhaps you’re considering an outsourcing partnership. But you’re understandably cautious. You have some ‘niggling’ doubt, especially given how much there is to consider when choosing a partner or understanding whether outsourcing is even the right solution for you in your current situation. You need reassurances.
We’re no strangers to the apprehensions people have; intrusive thoughts manifesting like pesky little critters. But you’re in the right place. This is where we eliminate those critters!
This is where we prove that it’s not so much an act of letting go but rather, gaining more. It’s not losing control of quality or contending with cost and time overruns; it’s about doing things better and faster with less risk. It’s not about listening to the inner doubt telling you that values and principles will never align; it’s about how values and principles combine and contribute to one of the most valuable strengths in manufacturing – that of innovative and value-added collaboration.
But… What keeps you up at night?

National Apprenticeship Week 2024
Check out to this excellent insight into Sophie Young ’s apprenticeship journey with PP C&A, and good timing as we celebrate #NAW2024 and #SkillsForLife.
Sophie joined PP C&A in September 2021 and in the following years she has progressed from assembling electrical equipment within the busy manufacturing area to creating engineering information to speed up production of electrical assemblies and control panels.
Within the first five months of her apprenticeship, she was given the opportunity to take a project for a client involved in surface mount technology printing machines through from quotation to completion.
This included supporting the New Product Introduction process by eliminating faults and developing a product ready for production, carrying out inspection reports on first builds and creating a dedicated production cell.
Sophie even volunteered to build the first iteration of the assembly to prove out her documentation, cutting out 1-hour of build time by identifying a more efficient method.
Sophie’s excellent work has not gone unnoticed, having won a clutch of industry awards, including Engineering & Manufacturing Awards 'Rising Star' and The Ladder for the Black Country Awards’ apprentice of the year in manufacturing. But not only that, Sophie was named as a ‘young pioneer’ and one of the Top 100 Manufacturing Professionals in the UK by The Manufacturer .
