The 'Inside' view: a view that does not necessarily resonate 'outside'

What we say & what we mean

We, ‘Corporate Citizens’ are very polite people. We don't want to hurt anyone's sentiments by being honest. So we package our 'honesty' such that it takes completely different meaning to what we really want to say. Presenting - What we say & what we mean – some of it will resonate with you, hopefully.

  •  'Take ownership': I want you to be in office at ungodly hours & on all holidays
  • 'You are a mature professional ': we aren't promoting you this year too but we expect the same commitment
  • 'Manage stakeholders': I don't care how you do it, but ensure it is done
  • 'Let's brainstorm': I don't have a clue on what needs to be done – let’s struggle together.
  • 'Money isn't everything':I have no control over increasing your salary but still have to get the work done
  • 'When I was your age...':I am way above your league now, you better listen to what I say.
  • 'Let's call for a strategy meet': I haven't been outstation in a long time...
  • 'The buck stops at you': The buck stops at you because I have nothing to contribute…
  • 'What will you do 5 years from now...': I have no clue what to do with you NOW (when you can't convince, confuse)
  • 'It was a learning experience': I can't tell you how happy I am to 'scoot' from here. I'm upping & going...
  • ‘You aren’t thinking out of the box’: I am out of ideas & my performance appraisal is linked to yours…
  • ‘Let’s have it approved by management’: I don’t want to be the one getting the stick if this fails...

Please share more ‘Inside views’ to make this list more robust. More, the merrier.

Good read - to add Good point. Let's discuss - I completely disagree with you and your idea will not add anything to the project.

"Let's get everyone on the same page" - I don't want to be only one taking the blame if this idea doesn't work.
