We process 20k candidate BGV's roughly each month, give or take 5%. The successful candidates or candidates whose BGV report is all clear stands at 98% overall. Which means around 2% or a little more by a decimal % have unwarranted records, that impact their employment.
What is astounding is of the 2% of non-compliant results, more than 70% is employment history that is incorrect. Even forged/incorrect education records account for 10% of results not fit for hire. Together this accounts for 70% or more incorrect information passed on by the candidates. It is more than the 7% criminal matches found against employees/candidates.
Which means if you are not doing the background check of a candidate taking into perspective their previous employment & education records, you might be in for a surprise, albeit not a rewarding one!
