Inside Sydney South: Troy Devine

Hallowed as Porsche Centre Sydney South’s Taycan Expert, Smart Mobility and Handover Specialist, Troy Devine, is deeply passionate about how electromobility is paving the road for the future at Porsche.

Even from an early age, Devine knew that working in the automotive industry was in his future. Growing up surrounded by cars and attending the motor show in Sydney with his father sparked a life-long interest that would carry on through to his career.?

“One thing I grew up believing was to always chase your passion, and everything else will follow,” he says.

This was realised when he started at Porsche Centre Sydney South three years ago as a Handover Specialist, a role that found him coordinating deliveries. Working at Porsche was always the end goal for Devine and getting his foot in the door was a dream come true.

As Porsche’s focus shifts towards E-Performance, so did Devine’s passions. For him, not only being there to witness this new era, but helping the sports car brand pioneer forward for electric engine vehicles is an opportunity he is beyond excited to have.

“It's an area that I love. It’s constantly evolving and transforming, and a very exciting role to work in as we continue to adapt with the future of the brand.”

When he first heard about the launch of the Taycan, Devine took it upon himself to learn as much about the all-electric sports car as possible – even before it landed on Australian shores.

Fully immersing himself in the research, Devine became an encyclopedia of Taycan facts, so much so that when it finally arrived, anyone with questions about the new electric car was pointed in Devine’s direction.?

“I think the Taycan is the future of the brand. The fact that it's the first iteration that Porsche has bought out in the EV market and that it outsold the 911 within its first year of production is pretty incredible,” he says.

His expansive knowledge and expertise in smart mobility and E-Performance left the team at Porsche Centre Sydney South so impressed that when the opportunity arose, Devine was offered the unique role of Smart Mobility and Handover Specialist at the dealership – a position which has helped him realise his plans and ambitions for the future.

“I’m certainly aspiring to be known as Mr E-Performance,” he says.

?Devine’s enthusiasm for the all-electric vehicle has seen him encouraging diehard Porsche fans to get on board with EVs. With the help of the events team, Devine has assisted on EV-focused Track Days where customers can experience the energy and power of the Taycan and see for themselves, it’s truly a Porsche.

?“They realise that this is a Porsche. It drives like a Porsche. It looks like a Porsche. It's just the shift from hearing an engine noise to an electric sports sound, but it still drives how a Porsche should,” Devine says, recalling previous customer reactions as they sped around the track for the first time in a Taycan.

?The strong team dynamic at Porsche Centre Sydney South is something that has made Devine feel incredibly supported in his time at the dealership. The encouragement from those around him has allowed him to constantly develop his skills and continue to improve and grow.

?“We're basically a Porsche family. Not just the sales team, but the entire dealership; everyone has each other’s back. The whole team is great, and we all get on,” he says.

If he had to liken himself to a car, Devine says he would be a Taycan as he’s energetic, bubbly, fashionable and passionate – just like the electric sports car. And when he’s not learning all that he can about the model, Devine can be found seeking out cool cocktail bars and new restaurants with his friends for a bite to eat.

?A recent addition to his family is a cheeky Staffy puppy named Hugo, who has been a great sense of joy for Devine.

?“He's the best. We love taking him for walks. We’re two minutes from the beach, so we take him down every Sunday,” says Devine.

?With aspirations to become more even involved in the electric evolution at Porsche, Devine is excited for what’s to come next in his career.
