Inside Sydney South: Dylan Price
For Porsche Centre Sydney South Technician, Dylan Price, the road to working in the automotive industry started with an interest in cars from a young age and an unexpected chance to be a part of an apprenticeship program at a European automotive company.
Passionate about mechanics and cars, the idea of turning his interests into a career was more than appealing. So when the opportunity arose to take part in a modern apprenticeship program, he jumped at the chance and, much to his surprise, was promptly offered the role.
It was there that he learned the fundamental skills needed to enter the industry as a service technician. Five years later and with experience working at two prominent European automotive brands under his belt, Price’s impressive resume captured the attention of a recruiter who contacted him about an exciting new position at Porsche.
“I asked what company it was for, but was told they couldn’t disclose until after I came in for an interview,” says Price. “When I finally learnt it was for Porsche, I didn’t have to think twice, it was always a goal of mine to work for Porsche!”?
Price began working at Porsche Centre Sydney South in 2019 as a technician and has enjoyed every moment since. The bond he has formed with the rest of his team at the dealership is part of why he is so passionate about his job.
“I’ve always loved working here. It’s like a family, more so because it is a smaller team that works together to achieve the best possible outcome for our customers,” he says.?
Across the week, an assortment of service work drives into the Porsche Centre Sydney South service department, meaning for Price, every day is different. The role finds him doing everything from standard servicing to applying his depth of knowledge to delve into specific vehicles or parts. This has given Price the opportunity to work on a variety of different models but, like all Porsche enthusiasts, he has a personal favourite.
“Like many, it would have to be the GT line, in particular, the GT2s and GT3s,” laughs Price.
While he spends many hours of his day under the hood of Porsche models, it was taking part in the Porsche Track Experience that allowed him to encounter the full extent and power of the cars he works on.

“The Porsche Track Experience really blew me away. It was such an incredible opportunity to drive the cars that we work on every day to their full potential. That alongside experiencing the entire model range was day that I won’t forget and would highly recommend to anyone."
At the end of 2021, Price welcomed a new baby girl into his family and left Porsche Centre Sydney South to work closer to home. But his new role didn’t fill him with the same passion and enthusiasm, so when the opportunity arose to return, Price answered the call.
“I think I was only gone for two months and when I came back, I jumped straight into what I was doing before,” he says. “It felt like I had never left. The team welcomed me back with open arms and I knew I was back where I was supposed to be, working on Porsches.”
When he’s not servicing customer cars, Price enjoys working on both his own and his friend’s project cars. And with his daughter at home, he also loves spending time with his family and travelling with them as much as he can.
One destination that Price enjoys visiting every year is the legendary Mount Panorama Circuit for the Bathurst 12 Hour.
“We always make the effort to go because it's only a few hours away from home. We camp in the middle of the paddock, close to Turn 1 where we have a great view of the track for not only the main 12 Hour race, but the Porsche Division, Carrera Cup.,” he says. “We have a bit of fun and always walk the track the night before the12 Hour, it’s a tradition.”
When asked about a highlight of his time spent at Porsche so far, Price believes that there isn’t just one standout moment. For him, the chance to be able to work for the prestigious sports car brand is a highlight in itself. Price is excited to grow with the dealership and continue to experience the transition to all electric cars.
“When I’m asked what I do for work, I’m proud to reply that I’m a technician for Porsche,” he says.
Working at Porsche has allowed Price to turn his passion for motorsports and love for fixing cars into a career, and he is excited to continue to do so at Porsche Centre Sydney South.
