New research partnership

We are thrilled to be partnered?with the University of Cambridge Institute of Criminology on a new research project titled ‘Desistance following overseas imprisonment’, focusing on the link between our resettlement service and the reoffending rates of British people returning to the UK after a sentence overseas. Find out more here.

The second annual edition of the Cheal Report is now available for you to read online! The report, published by Prisoners Abroad, analyses data we have collected from our service users over the last year and highlights particular trends and issues - including an increase in the numbers of people needing our support overseas and a decrease in the numbers of deportations, particularly from Australia an the USA, as well as information on repatriations and transfers.??Read the full report here.

Frankie was deported from New Zealand after seven and a half years In prison. He didn’t have any family support on arrival to the UK and most likely would have been homeless. Thankfully, with the help offered by our resettlement team, things are looking up. Read Frankie's story here.

International Translation Day is coming up at the end of this month. We have a brilliant group of remote volunteers who translate correspondence with local lawyers or prison authorities, and information for parole applications. They make an intimidating process easier to navigate for the people we support, so we would like to say a huge thank you to them all for their work!

If you are a professional translator who would like to join this pool of volunteers, please click the button below for more information. We are particularly in need of Arabic, Czech, Danish, Farsi, German, Greek, Hungarian, Indonesian, Kurdish, Mandarin, Romanian, Thai and Turkish speakers.

Become a translator!
