Inside Sales and Radio. THE Process to Convert Radio Advertising into Appointments and Sales

There is much that goes into creating the right package to convert your radio leads into clients.?What is the most important take-away??The key is recognizing that the lead must be nurtured by your organization. Do not continue to waste your front-end advertising dollars to attract qualified leads if your company is not ready to manage the lead, compel it to a decision, and convert it to a customer.?Attracting, say, 1,000 leads each month, selling 10% and wasting 900 leads from your advertising dollars, is a path you do not want to take.

Do you have an inside sales group, and radio is your driver? Here are steps to build the right inside sales approach:?

  • Follow-Up. Keep emailing, texting and calling, along with other paths that work in your business model, such as social and mail. If the customer will buy on the 7th touch, why did you stop on the 2nd touch? You must stay with the lead until they say "no".
  • Product definition-how and why it shines. Simple features and benefits, a simple value proposition for each product. Why the product provides success to your audience.
  • Offer definition-compelling and easy. Tied to THEIR circumstances.
  • Script scalability and flexibility-the roadmap for the calls. Have multiple pathways for the customer. Include open and closed questions. Do not be afraid to trial close for direction. Have a fall-back offer if the first offer isn't ringing home.
  • Rep training-consistency through repetition, ongoing and forever. Full scale sales training. Mini-one minute training sessions. Ongoing sales training modules on key skills.
  • Customer recognition factors- (empathy/WIFM). Verbal nods. Are you talking their talk? Next step agreements.
  • The story of your brand-establish the right choice, provide a spark. Did you find one or two elements the customer 100% related to? The narrative of why your company is the one to do business with.

  • Database mining/CRM. Your data is everything Your CRM is your engine control panel and provides analytics and opportunities for your reps and your customers.

Dan - you nailed it. Leads generated through radio are expensive so making the most of every opportunity is critical. You talked about the steps to take but I love that you started with the mindset that leads need to be treated with reverence.
