On September 11, 2024, the Union Cabinet approved two major plans aimed at boosting electric vehicle (EV) usage in India, with a total budget of Rs 14,335 crore One of these plans is the PM Electric Drive Revolution In Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE), which has been allocated Rs 10,900 crore. This scheme, along with the PM-eBus Sewa-Payment Security Mechanism (PSM) scheme, with a budget of Rs 3,435 crore, will help India move towards cleaner, more efficient transport.
At REPLUS Engitech, we are excited to be part of this change. As a battery manufacturer, we believe this program will not only reduce pollution but also lower the country’s reliance on oil. The focus on electric two-wheelers (e-2Ws), three-wheelers (e-3Ws), buses, ambulances, and trucks will lead to cleaner air, reliable transport, and better living conditions for all.
A Cleaner and Greener Future
The PM E-DRIVE scheme aims to reduce our reliance on oil by promoting the use of electric vehicles, which is great news for both the environment and the economy. Reducing oil imports can help India cut down on harmful emissions and tackle air pollution, especially in busy cities. Investments in fast-charging stations for electric vehicles, like e-2Ws, e-3Ws, and e-buses, will boost consumer confidence and encourage more people to switch to EVs.
eAmbulances: Better Emergency Response
One of the most exciting features of the PM E-DRIVE scheme is the introduction of e-ambulances. These electric ambulances will provide a clean and quiet way to respond to emergencies, making a positive impact on both healthcare and the environment. As urban areas continue to grow, the need for sustainable services like e-ambulances will become even more crucial.
Reducing Oil Dependence
By encouraging electric vehicle use, the PM E-DRIVE scheme aims to reduce India's dependence on oil. This shift will help the country become more self-reliant and resilient while reducing pollution. With more electric buses, trucks, and ambulances on the roads, the oil demand will drop, improving the economy and the environment.

Building Charging Infrastructure
A key part of the PM E-DRIVE scheme is the development of charging stations across the country. The plan includes building 88,500 EV chargers, making it easier for people to charge their vehicles and boosting their confidence in switching to electric. The widespread availability of charging points will be essential in making EVs a convenient and reliable option for all.
A Bright Future for Electric Mobility in India
India is already seeing a significant increase in EV usage, with 20% of electric three-wheelers already on the road thanks to previous schemes like FAMEEMPS.
The scheme is expected to support 24.79 lakh e-2Ws, 3.16 lakh e-3Ws, and 14,028 e-buses, marking a huge step forward for India’s clean mobility goals. With the help of government support, industry leaders, and companies like ours, REPLUS Engitech, India is on the path to becoming a global leader in battery manufacturing.
At REPLUS Engitech, we’re proud to contribute to this movement. As we continue to innovate and build high-quality batteries, we are committed to helping India achieve a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.
The PM E-DRIVE scheme is a major step towards transforming India's transportation system. By promoting cleaner vehicles, reducing our reliance on oil, and improving the overall quality of transportation, this initiative is set to reshape the future of mobility in India.
