Inside Our £2B AUM Year: Lessons You Can Use in 2025

2024 has been one hell of a year.

We hit £2 billion in assets under management and now serve 7,000 clients across the globe. Those numbers are huge. But they’re not just about us—they represent the trust of our clients and the hard work of our team.

And they didn’t happen overnight.

Building something meaningful takes relentless focus. It’s not flashy, it’s not easy, and most of the time, it’s not fun. But it’s worth it.

So, as we close out the year, I want to reflect on some of the lessons and milestones that brought us here—and what they might mean for you


Growth Requires Bold Decisions

This year, we made some big changes:

  • We opened a new office in Liverpool and also Birmingham, solidifying our UK footprint.
  • We launched Wealth Flow, giving clients real-time financial insights and setting a new standard for client service.
  • And we rebranded as Hoxton Wealth, a move that wasn’t just cosmetic—it was about doubling down on our ambition and evolving as a business.

All of these changes have come with a bit of risk.

The lesson? If you want to grow, you have to lean into uncertainty. Play small, and you’ll stay small.

Content Isn’t Just Marketing—It’s Impact

This year, I made a conscious decision to stop hiding behind the brand and start putting myself out there more.

  • We launched the Hoxton Life Podcast, which broke into the Top 20 UK Career Podcasts in its first few months! Cheers Sam Oakes !
  • I started sharing more lessons and insights on LinkedIn, growing from 4,000 to over 13,000 followers.
  • And this newsletter, Don’t Shoot the Messenger, hit 3,000 subscribers in just 12 weeks. I want to thank you all for your support and feedback on this one!?

I think in 2025, if you arent creating content you are missing a huge opportunity.

Why?

Because your expertise raises the bar for the industry.

That was the biggest motivator for me to start this journey.

It’s about helping other IFAs, business owners, and young professionals learn from my wins and (especially) my mistakes and call out some big changes we all need to make in this profession.

It has not been comfortable or natural for me to do this.?Those who know me well will realise I do not really like the attention or shouting about our success.?

It was extremely uncomfortable, but doing it has significantly raised the brand of Hoxton and all of the great things that our team are doing.

I hope it has also empowered others to make moves and do things that they may not have.

If you’re sitting on knowledge that could help someone else, don’t keep it to yourself!


The Truth About Success

Behind every milestone, there’s a mountain of work that nobody sees.

  • The 12-hour days.
  • The meetings that didn’t go anywhere.
  • The constant juggling of people, priorities, and problems.

People see the wins, but they don’t always see the grind that goes on outside of the public view.

This was also something I really wanted to shed a light on.

Because this year taught me, more than ever, that success isn’t glamorous—it’s built on the boring stuff done consistently well.

So, if there’s one takeaway I’d give you heading into 2025, it’s this: Don’t rush the process. Master the basics. Put in the reps. The rewards will come—but only if you’re willing to do the work when no one’s watching.


What’s Next?

If 2024 was about stepping out of the shadows, 2025 will be about doubling down.

We’re going to keep growing, keep innovating, and keep pushing the limits of what’s possible—not just for Hoxton, but for the industry as a whole.

I’ll also be sharing more lessons, stories, and insights from the journey. My hope is that some of them will inspire or help you on your own path.

Here’s to an even bigger 2025—for all of us.
