Inside My Internship Experience at WWT
Hannah Gutweiler
Supply Chain Management Student | University of Arkansas Walton College of Business | Intern at World Wide Technology
As we have approached the halfway mark of the summer internship program here at World Wide Technology , I find myself reflecting on the journey I've experienced so far. This summer has been a great opportunity for learning, growth, and meaningful connections, and I am excited to share some of the highlights I have experienced along the way!
Life as an Intern:
Throughout my time here, I have been exposed to various aspects of the supply chain, with a particular focus on Order Management. Working closely with the team, I have utilized a range of applications to assist in order operations, which has broadened my understanding of the intricate processes involved. Each assignment has been a valuable opportunity to deepen my knowledge of supply chain dynamics and the critical role of order management in ensuring smooth operations. One of the most enlightening aspects of my experience has been the exposure to different software and tools used in the field. I have worked with systems such as Salesforce and Oracle, which are essential to order management processes. Understanding how these systems function and contribute to efficient supply chain management has been extremely informative.
Beyond the day-to-day responsibilities, the internship program has provided numerous great experiences that I have thoroughly enjoyed! One of my favorite moments this summer was our Intern Day of Caring. Volunteering at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge was not only a heartwarming experience but also an eye opening one. It was inspiring to learn more about the incredible support and services they provide to cancer patients and their families. Contributing to such a meaningful cause alongside my fellow interns was a great reminder of the importance of giving back to the community.
Other memorable events was the Global Order Operations intern welcome during week one, as well as the pickleball tournament hosted at GHQ. Both were fantastic days filled with plenty of opportunities to connect with my fellow interns in a welcoming environment. These events have not only enhanced my internship experience but have also fostered a sense of community. In addition to these events, I have also benefited from various professional development workshops and seminars organized by the internship program. These sessions have covered a wide range of topics, from presentation skills, trust in teamwork, and advice for career development
One last rewarding opportunity I have been exposed to as an intern is the Capstone Project. This collaborative experience has given my team insight to give ideas we value to the company. The capstone project has rewarded me with various things, including:
·???????? Teamwork
·???????? Time Management
领英推荐
·???????? Organizational skills
·???????? Brainstorming opportunities
·???????? Critical thinking skills
·???????? Leadership
Although our capstone is not yet finalized, I have enjoyed the experience thus far and look forward to presenting the ideas the team has developed!
Reflections:
Reflecting on these past weeks, I am grateful for the hands-on experience, the supportive team, and the vibrant intern community that have made this journey so rewarding. A significant aspect of my internship has been the mentorship and guidance I've received from my the members of my team. Their willingness to share their knowledge and provide feedback has been crucial in my professional growth. I am excited to continue learning and contributing during the rest of my internship!
Moreover, the internship has offered me a glimpse into the corporate culture at WWT. The emphasis on “THE PATH”, collaboration, innovation, and community involvement resonates with me, as well as many other employees. The approachable nature of the leadership has fostered a welcoming environment. Being welcomed in team meetings and company-wide events has given me a strong sense of belonging!
Conclusion:
In conclusion, my internship at WWT has been a remarkable journey of learning, growth, and connection. The hands-on experience in supply chain and order management, alongside the educational events and professional development opportunities, have made this summer an unforgettable and impactful time. I am grateful for the mentorship and support I have experienced, and I look forward to the remaining weeks with enthusiasm and excitement. Thank you to everyone at WWT for making this internship such a meaningful and educational experience!
