2024 has been a remarkable year for Greenough Communications. Together, we’ve brought bold ideas to life through creative campaigns that delivered measurable impact for our clients, engaged in industry events that reshaped narratives and led the markets we serve, and enjoyed team outings and friendly competitions that added joy and connection to our work. These moments have deepened our commitment to storytelling, innovation, and collaboration.?
As we wrap up the year, we’re proud to announce an initiative that reflects our values and vision for the future. In partnership with PRSA and Mission North, we’re excited to participate in the?Foster the Future?program, sponsoring a scholarship to advance diversity within the public relations industry. This summer, we’ll welcome the scholarship recipient to the Greenough team, continuing our efforts to create opportunities for individuals historically underrepresented in leadership roles.?
With 2025 on the horizon, we can’t wait to embrace new opportunities, build on this year’s successes, and create even more moments that matter together. Thank you for your partnership and support throughout this incredible year. From all of us at Greenough Communications, we wish you a joyful holiday season and a bright, prosperous New Year!?
The Moments that Matter
Be the hero of your own journey
Telling impactful stories is like catnip for communicators – we can’t get enough! That’s why we loved our recent agency session with Reed Frerichs, Founder of The Lesson, former Deal Flow & Portfolio Manager, Intel Ignite US and a former Hollywood actor and producer, on the importance of storytelling skills. From tapping into how to tell a compelling founder story to embracing collaborative storytelling, read some of the lessons he shared with our team.??
Driving Innovation: Fueling tech industry leadership
As part of her Greenough initiation, new kid on the block (but veteran on the tech scene) SVP Kate Campbell sat down with Greenough Communications’ CEO Nikki Festa O’Brien to talk about why she’s excited to take the helm of our technology practice. Sneak peek: “Our technology practice reflects the nature of tech - the innovation, the speed, and the growth. It's no longer a siloed sector, but an undercurrent touching our daily lives and every single client.”
Inside BrandLab...
Spearheading the future of EV charging
Ever worry about your EV running out of charge? MA is one step closer to alleviating those concerns through a new charging lot in Deerfield!
Greenough’s latest client offering,?BrandLab, is off and running with one of our first projects stemming from our Climate Transition practice. Greenough partnered with?Rivermoor Energy, a leading provider of clean energy development solutions for commercial and government customers, for the launch of a first-of-its-kind EV charging lot in Deerfield, MA.?
The new EV charging hub – Leary Lot – was funded by a $2.46 million federal Charging and Infrastructure (CFI) grant, made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). This is the first CFI grant project to be completed in the Eastern United States that is also National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) compliant, meaning it follows the plan of progress supported by the state and Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) to bring more EV chargers to Massachusetts’ drivers.?That’s a lot of technical speak to say it’s really cool and one of the first on this side of the country!??
In a project of this scale and within a tight timeframe, Greenough seamlessly managed the lead-up, execution and amplification of the ribbon cutting. We coordinated with federal, state, and local town officials as well as organizations like the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), the Federal Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, MassDOT, and Eversource to make the event a success.?

Shaping Moments into Cover Stories: Axios HQ
This election season posed extreme challenges for communications - and not just us as a field, but even communicating with friends, family, and colleagues about an election with two candidates who positioned themselves on opposite ends of the political spectrum. Through our work with Axios HQ, we saw an opportunity to offer a resource that would help navigate some of these challenges through their Smart Brevity approach to communication.
As workplaces grappled with the challenges this election season could bring, our team sparked the idea of an election toolkit to help leaders navigate these tricky conversations. Together, we brought that concept to life. The result??A resource that’s not just practical but transformative, landing Axios HQ in?Newsweek’s cover story?about fostering civility in the workplace.
From there, we collaborated to build a relationship with?Newsweek, which led to Michael Franklin of Speechwriters of Color—an incredible partner in the toolkit’s development—taking part in a?Newsweek?panel that brought even more visibility to this important conversation.
This year, Axios HQ has also been hard at work building a powerhouse community for communicators to tackle some of these big questions. Their acquisition of?MixingBoard,?the leading network for U.S. communications leaders, was a major move. We made sure to get this news in front of the right audiences—from the Fortune community to local business circles in Washington and San Francisco.
From shaping vital conversations to building an industry-leading community, we’re closing the year with many milestone moments that we were able to craft together for maximum impact. Be sure to stay tuned for what 2025 has in store...
