Inside Innovation: Packaging Perspectives #1

Welcome to my first official LinkedIn newsletter. Although it may feel to you like I might have subjected you to a fair few posts about packaging innovation on this platform over the years. ??

This will be a personal account of the world of packaging. ThePackHub will continue to provide lots of news and views and a new LinkedIn weekly newsletter.

Packaging Innovation Watch

I'm going to focus each week on a particular LinkedIn post of mine that gets the packaging network liking, sharing and commenting.

The use of the labels for these reusable and returnable glass jars from Casa Mateu de Surp. The yoghurt labels, made from cardboard, are simply hung from the jar's neck. As Albert Monferrer point out, these were once common in the 50s, 60s and 70s before falling out of favour.

Expert Interview

You might like to check out part two of a three-part interview I recently did with the brilliant Kerry Sanders of EFI . In our chat, I learn more about digital print trends and the fantastic opportunities they present for corrugated packaging. You can, too, by viewing below.

Packaging Podcast

I was honoured to be interviewed by the internationally famous and seemingly ubiquitous Adam Peek (AKA The Packaging Pastor) recently. I just made the cut as one of his first 100 interviewees. Adam has a really natural and his chatty and engaging interview style is perfect for podcasting. You can listen to our conversation here plus 193 other packaging interviews:

Not sure about the 'Great' bit. Better than 'Late', I suppose!

There is so much going on at ThePackHub .

We are working with Wayne Barron on a dedicated Refill & Reuse Packaging Seminar. The brand new In-site Event format will feature an exclusive site tour of the established?Dizzie?reuse distribution/return centre, followed by a second tour of the impressive reusable packaging cleaning facilities at?Packaging Services Europe.

This unique event will provide solutions to the challenges of developing effective reuse systems with presentations from industry-renowned reuse specialists, including Ben Patten , Andrew Parkinson , Katherine Fleet , Helen Clements , Lowelle Bryan and more.

We have a Very Early Bird discount running until this Friday 26th May.

Finally, I really enjoyed the Sustainable Plastics Live GRIPS 2023 in Coventry recently. Prof Sally Beken, Fellow IOM3 and her team put on a fantastic event. It was a great way to get up to speed with the latest on sustainable plastic policy, legislation and innovation as well as network. If you didn't get a chance to attend or view online, you can now view all the presentations at your leisure.

Until next time. Happy innovating.
