INSIDE: Engines, Sustainability, & the Future

INSIDE: Engines, Sustainability, & the Future

Happy Friday!?

We've almost made it to the weekend so let's look to the future. Today, we're talking about the path toward a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable freight transportation industry. Who is engineering new equipment and new tech solutions to address emissions and sustainability goals? What will this mean for the traditional internal combustion engine? And, how can you prepare your fleet for the coming change? Let's dive in.

01. What Does the Future of The Internal Combustion Engine Look Like In Commercial Trucking??

According to fleet executives, as well as maintenance managers, the death of the internal combustion engine may have been greatly exaggerated in spite of the excitement about electric powertrains. In fact, a panel in the House recently approved a bill that would block efforts meant to prevent the sale of internal combustion engines. We wonder though, how long until sustainability goals challenge the predominance of internal combustion engines? What solutions are being explored to make diesel engines more efficient and compatible with alternative fuels? And, how can fleets prepare for a potential future with an entirely new driving force? To find answers, we bring in Ryan Manthiri , project leader at 壳牌 Global Solutions and Michael Grahe , head of operations at Navistar Inc . Tune in.??

02. How are Fleets and Manufacturers Handling Equipment Maintenance and Trailer Efficiency?

More efficient = less emissions = greener planet, right? Trailer manufacturers and fleets are discovering it's not that simple. To be more efficient means following strict legislative rules, fielding customer feedback, uprooting old, dated practices, and training technicians for new technology. So, how are fleets and manufacturers navigating this change? And, how has the GHG Phase 2 rule encouraged the change? Find out as host Michael Freeze speaks with Taki Darakos Vice President, Vehicle Maintenance & Fleet, PITT OHIO and Dustin Smith , Chief Strategy Officer at Wabash National.?Tune in.??
