My Journey 特易购公司 - Inside and Beyond 15 – A Reflection?

A hint of sun through the clouds, meant a possibility that the day would be little brighter, and as I entered the Tesco premises I was greeted with a breath of fresh air, greenery, and the exuberance around! I was greeted by my colleagues who were eagerly waiting for me to join, so as I stepped forward to sit in my desk, there were few more people who surrounded and greeted me, asking for my well being etc. The very first hour in Tesco, 15 years back, told me that I am here to stay longer and that, they are more than colleagues, we would be an extended family!!!

I carry the same feeling today, the only difference is that the bond has become more stronger, and the belief and purpose is clear. I have made huge number of friends, I have been blessed to find some great mentors and coaches during these years, I have found myself beaming with pride as my Awesome Team/s celebrated success and learnings, and lastly practicing ‘We are in this Together’, we have achieved remarkable progress. A great working culture that has only improved me and have made myself what I am today.?

As I celebrate my 15th?Anniversary today, I have witnessed great amount of growth, capability shift, digitization, and transformation. I was new to retail business, but beauty of Tesco is, I not only got to know something when I read the documents, but I gathered more when I met and spoke with people. I was excited then, I am excited now to uncover what the world of opportunity opens up. We are continuing to make some good strong progress on core Engineering and powering our Retail business. We understand the end to end of business, hence our partnerships has grown stronger over the years and we have co-created many outcomes that are world class, and we continue to do so. Our achievements have left an incredible mark in the industry and powered us as one of the top players in the game. We are building a great workplace culture, a culture that has Win Together behaviors embedded within. We are also giving back to the communities we serve,?Redistribution of surplus food is a well organised process, thanks to the hard work of our fantastic colleagues, partners and the platforms, to seamlessly enable this function.

Few things that I want to call out, which are some key pillars alongside this journey:

Teamwork: Having worked very closely with the teams, it is imperative that they are my biggest asset and actually one of my biggest reason to stay this far. The amount of discussions and closeness I had with my teams, gives me a feeling that I was never away! My Team – THANK YOU! You know who you are and I am here because of YOU!!!

Being Intellectually humble?– I have learnt to be this, and to keep it about the facts and the topic, the logic.?Research tells us that?cognitive diversity?makes a group smarter. While diverse thinking and disagreements can be?uncomfortable, they are more likely to lead a team to make progress. So, I have learnt many ways to understand Form-Storm-Norm-Perform cycle, which still is close to my heart and one of the mantras I have for myself?:-)

Learning: I have witnessed huge learning and it never stops! Actually I was fortunate to be part of some industry leading work and have constantly improved myself. As a leader in today's dynamic world, the ability to learn and adapt is more crucial than ever.?I have moved upwards and sideways in my role few times and have grown myself in these years, for every roles I have accepted, I have looked at each one of them as an opportunity to learn and course correct.

Leadership: During the course of these 15 years, one thing that I am constantly learning is leading. Its not an over the counter prescription and certainly not something that can be read in books, rather it must be practiced and having the willingness to retrospect and course correct. I am fortunate to be part of some huge transformational engineering work, where I constantly meet and engage with different people across business, it gives a fulfilling feeling. Tesco has also given me plenty of space to try out and bring out “Change” that cuts across Capability / Technology and I had to make a positive impact to the business through the lives of the people I lead.?

As I end here, I am thankful to all my colleagues in Tesco, my leadership team, my mentors and coaches and my all important Team. A note of thanks to all the wonderful people within and outside Tesco that I have worked with, you all will remain very close to my heart. I look forward to working with you all to achieve the many great outcomes in the future.
