An innovation is a new solution for a relevant unmet customer need with a business model.

This is one of my definitions of innovation which stressed the importance of solving unmet needs of potential customers which are really relevant to them. Why? Because otherwise there's no reason for a customer to change his or her behaviour, especially in a business-to-business context.

A lack of customer understanding is one of the main reasons new products or services fail.?A great new way of really understanding customers is the relatively new Jobs-To-Be-Done (JTBD) framework and the related Wheel of Progress. With no more than ten interviews, you already get deep insight into what customers need to make progress and their circumstances.

At the FORTH Innovation Institute we love to share our insights and innovation expertise with you to help you to create a culture for innovation in your organisation.
