Innovative Waste Management

The management of waste is essential in our effort to maintain a clean and sustainable environment. However, the traditional method of waste management can often be expensive and inefficient. Therefore, there is a need for a more efficient and sustainable way to manage waste. To address this issue, four B.Tech students from KLH Hyderabad Campus - N. Sonalika, K. Poojitha, M. Namitha, and S. Sneha - developed a Smart Garbage Monitoring System that aims to revolutionize waste management.


?This project proposes to use IR and ultrasonic sensors along with an LCD and a Telegram bot to monitor the garbage level in the bin. The system detects the presence of garbage using an IR sensor and measures the level of garbage using an ultrasonic sensor. The measured data is displayed on an LCD screen for easy monitoring by users and is also sent to an IoT platform via Wi-Fi. The Telegram bot receives notifications when the bin is full, and sends a message to the users Telegram account.

This innovative system optimizes the frequency of garbage collection reduces; costs associated with waste disposal and contributes to a cleaner and more sustainable environment. With the advancement of technology and the increasing concern for environmental issues worldwide, the implementation of such systems can bring significant positive impact on the society and help us move towards a more sustainable future. The university places great emphasis on encouraging its students to work towards discovering long-term and sustainable solutions for environmental issues.
