Innovative solutions
As we all know, animal meat provides valuable proteins for humans, but its production generates a huge negative environmental impact (deforestation, emission of greenhouse gases, large consumption of water,…). Alternative products have been proposed as a way of reducing the environmental impact while consuming proteins. We have a proposal to solve the food problem and what we think is a feasible solution: our scientific work, our finds and technology, and the efficient and innovative way that we progress.
The production of the IBF (Inactivated Biomass of Fusarium venenatum) is based on a fermentation process in a bioreactor, which provides the fungus with the appropriate conditions to grow. We use image processing and artificial intelligence (AI) to obtain key data that will allow us to determine the best conditions to grow the fungus at small scales, this substantially improves the growth process and perfectly recognizes the conditions that maximize the production of the IBF while minimizing the use of water, energy or chemical substrates.
Improving cultivation conditions reduces the cost of biomass production on a larger scale, making the product accessible to everyone. By working with bioreactors and controlled conditions, production can be done in any country since it is independent of the climate and the amount of land available. We have a multidisciplinary team of scientists and specialists from different areas that allow us a correct and complete approach to the production process.

“Bioreactors are systems that allow total and automated control of production parameters. This strict control allows obtaining a product without variability throughout the production process. In our case, it allows us to obtain protein-rich biomass without pause, day after day. In addition, it also allows us to optimize the use of resources to obtain maximum yields and reduce our carbon footprint at the same time.” - María Fernanda Sosa, Eternal’s Lab Analyst
Like many companies, we saw the problem but did not look away. We work to take care of our planet.
